Job Title:
Simulation and Cadaver Coordinator for its inaugural graduate medical science program. The program is offered at the beautiful Oxford campus in our new clinical health science and wellness building. This state-of-the art facility is set to open in May, 2023. This 12-month unclassified (salaried) position begins on May 1, 2023.
- Demonstrate competency, high ethical standards, knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology; including enforcement of standards around hardware/software technology and cadaver lab experiences.
- Must be able to maintain, operate and troubleshoot simulation technology, which includes high-fidelity clinical simulators, AV, oversight maintenance of cadaver specimens and the assistance in prosection requirements in the lab.
- Conducts pre-simulation and lab activities: Sets up and tests simulation, audiovisual and relevant medical equipment specified in the course materials, places props, tools/instruments and assists with moulage. May provide briefings to learners and be active steward of learning environment policies.
- Executes simulation-based education: Records/streams simulation-based education, operates simulated patient vitals, manipulates simulated vitals based on learner actions and facilitator input, assists facilitator in monitoring learner actions. Proactive member of the team, providing ad-hoc troubleshooting, offering advice for scenario interventions.
- Completes post-simulation and lab activities: Collaborates with faculty about learner performance, assists facilitator with video debrief, participates in event debrief offering recommendations for improvement. Prepares lab for next scenario or event. Ensures that the lab environment is clean, safe, specimens are stored and preserved appropriately by industry design and practice policy.
- Collaborates with team to improve processes: Provides professional, timely feedback to team members including standardized patients, colleagues and management about opportunities to reduce cost, alternative education strategies and process improvement initiatives.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and organized work environment, including but not limited to activities such as: cleaning tables, stocking gloves, paper towels, making beds, stocking linen, cleaning computer/clinical equipment, checking storage units and cadavers regularly.
- Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution. Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, colleagues, and visitors. f job duties in the safest possible manner to assure personal safety and that of coworkers/students, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of relevant professional experience such as: Patient Care Technician, EMT, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, Nurse, Morgue attendant/mortician, direct patient care.
Consideration may be given to candidates with healthcare simulation and/or cadaver lab experience; ability to work in lab and morgue conditions (SIM lab and Cadaver); ability to problem solve and work collaboratively in a dynamic team setting where priorities are subject to change; ability to provide and accept feedback related to team and individual performance; ability to work independently with limited supervision; ability to communicate effectively and professionally under pressure; ability to work as part of an ad-hoc team; willingness to be flexible in an environment subject to change.
