Job description

Description: We are looking for shipyard Firewatch laborers assistance from around the 10th of December until about the 10th of January. The work will be in a shipyard with a few commerical fishing vessels docked for routine maintenance. As a Firewatch Laborer you would be acting as the first line of defense in protecting other workers and property from harm during hot work. Hot work includes any activity involving riveting, welding, burning, grinding or use of powder-actuated tools or similar fire- or spark-producing operations.

• Watch out for fire hazards in the workplace while work is performed by other employees
• Maintain the conditions and requirements stated on the safety permit
• Keep flammable materials from ignition sources
• In the event of fire, extinguish it immediately
• Laborers perform dockside services, including loading, unloading, repairing, cleaning and such other services as may be required on or around vessels docked in Seattle, Washington

Requirements: This work involves considerable walking, climbing, stooping, bending, lifting, must be able to stand, walk, bend and lift 50 lbs repeatedly during a shift, with a can do attitude in an fast paced environment.
Qualified candidates should have the following:

• Reliable Transportation
• Prior experience in a shipyard/dockside environment is a plus
• Willingness and ability to learn new task quickly
• Must be able to work in a team environment with an upbeat attitude and be self-motivated
• Must have 100% attendance, be dependable, trustworthy, have a strong work ethic and respect authority
• Must follow safety regulations and wear proper safety equipment as job demands
• Monday - Saturday, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM with potential for additional hours
