Job Summary

Control the cost and efficiency of warehousing and shipping goods in conjunction with related office and manufacturing departments.

Responsibilities

  • Maximizes effective utilization of equipment & space considering ergonomics by organizing & directing work flow
  • Assures standard cost control. This includes supervising personnel, hands-on involvement in managing the operation activities & working with the Industrial Engineering & Scheduling Staff
  • Facilitates employee motivation & development to ensure attainment of operational objectives & employee satisfaction, This includes providing on-the-job training to new employees & cross-training to same employees; recognizing employee abilities & potential & where feasible, providing job growth opportunities
  • Schedules labor, vacations, approves timesheets & makes adjustments to labor schedules as needed
  • Evaluates production & related labor reports to identify problem areas & cost reduction and/or capacity increase opportunities
  • Monitors quality & supervises a quality control program to maintain quality standards
  • Motivates employees to be part of a team working toward departmental/organizational objectives
  • Coordinates with all 1st shift supervisors to ensure that the various departments in the plant operate smoothly across all shifts
  • Maintains proper documentation regarding all employee discipline, quality & safety issues & provides written performance evaluations for new employees & summer temps as necessary
  • Assists in formulating a budget for the department & monitors to stay within budgetary constraints

Qualifications

Education: Minimum – High School Diploma or GED;

Preferred – Bachelors Degree or equivalent

Work Experience: Minimum: 4 years shipping or logistics experience (with diploma or GED),

or Bachelors Degree; Strong computer experience required with intermediate proficiency of Microsoft Excel

Preferred: Previous production or shipping supervisory experience (with Bachelors Degree); SAP experience a plus
