Summary

The S/R Supervisor reports to the S/R Manager and holds the responsibility for monitoring processes of soybean inventory and the positioning of products in the grain elevator, product load out, and feed ingredient areas of the ZFS Ithaca facility.

Hours

5:00 to 5:00 Rotation, 2-2-3 Schedule

Week 1#: Work on Sunday, Wednesday, and Thursday

Week 2#: Work on Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

1. Lead shift employees to ensure that all tasks are completed according to established procedures, and management expectations, in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.

2. Delegate work assignments for shipping & receiving technicians according to workload, schedules, and managers discretion.

3. Communicate regularly with all shipping & receiving technicians on shift, both individually and as a group, to ensure consistent operation.

4. Maintain accurate production logs on a daily, weekly, and/or monthly basis of key variables. Completes written shift reports and communicates essential items to manager & other supervisors.

5. Receive and inspect incoming raw materials, process aids, and packaging materials relevant to department.

6. Conduct the onboarding & training plans for new hires in the department. Areas of training include, but not limited to, rail yard, heavy equipment use, grain flow, troubleshooting equipment, HMI use, quality assurance documentation, running dryer, truck & rail load-out stations, etc.

7. Direct technicians to maintain & support safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures in place by the food safety & EHS departments.

8. Other dutiesas assigned by management.

Supervisory Responsibilities

· Directly supervises shipping & receiving technicians.

· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws

· Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

· High School diploma or general education degree (GED), and in-depth knowledge of grain elevator product movement by truck & rail.

· Prior experience with direct supervision of 4 or more direct reports, preferred.

· Ability to motivate and lead team members.

· Efficiently operate large equipment (shuttle wagon, loader, skid-steer), and possess a mechanical aptitude for minor repairs to equipment when necessary.

· Ability to function with heights up to 225 feet, work in confined space areas, and exposure to outdoor weather elements, required.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, decision, and problem-solving abilities.

· Proficient in the PC computing environment and work effectively with distributed control system.

· Must be respirator fit tested initially and then annually.
