Purpose of this Job:

This job is responsible for processing outbound shipments both foreign and domestic.

Requirements:


Principle Duties/Essential Functions:

  • Control all outbound domestic and foreign products shipments that are moved out of Sanden consistent with customer requirements.
  • Serves as Sanden's primary customer contact regarding ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) communications from customers, ensuring timely and accurate completion of requirements.
  • Prepare Bills of Lading & labels, and release pickers for billing,
  • Review and calculate weights and rates as well as UPS charges and ground freight quotes.
  • Separate and distribute Bills of Lading for the Accounting department
  • Enter freight charges and run Bills of Lading for separate invoicing and early release for export shipments
  • Adhere to customer routing instructions and keep routing methods updated.
  • Prepare customs documents, invoice documents and international packing slips for outbound international shipments
  • Administer shipment consolidation programs (POOL B.O.L.) which entails combining several bill of ladings into one for lower shipping charges
  • Dispatch trucks for pick up.
  • Schedule containers/air shipments for outbound international shipments

Other Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Direct export transportation activities i.e. ensuring correct number of copies are with each bill of lading and an export declaration is completed (Example: Canada Custom Invoices are required with each Canadian Shipment
  • Maintain filing systems for pickers and Bills of Lading
  • Trace or expedite shipments as needed (outbound)
  • Develop and maintain close communication and cooperation with other SIA departments (Transportation, Sales & Customer Service)
  • Provide proof of shipment documentation to Duty Drawback Coordinator for Certificates of Delivery
  • Provide serial numbers to the International and Aftermarket Sales Departments.
  • Update, control & distribute internal order log for outbound shipments
  • Schedule special "hot shot" shipments to prevent line down situations on Customer production lines
  • Support admissions issues related to Foreign Trade Zone management.
  • Organize and support VA/VE activity for assigned product line as required by management.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • 2 - 3 years’ experience in shipping procedures.
  • Knowledge of domestic and foreign shipping procedures, Bills of Lading, Packing Slips, the various methods of carriage (UPS, couriers, truckload, less than truckload, etc.) and knowledge of freight forwarders required
  • Knowledge of the export of shipments into Canada and Mexico
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing ERP system (i.e., IQMS) and Microsoft office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):

  • Safety glasses and steel toed shoes may be required based on special projects.
