Primary Function

The primary function of this position will be to maintain and upgrade our petroleum service station equipment in a safe and efficient manner while complying with the standards set forth by NYSDEC, EPA, PADEP, W&M, OSHA, and Reid Petroleum.

Duties and Responsibilities (Not Limited To)

  • Perform startup, on-site repair, and preventative maintenance on fuel dispensing equipment including electronics and hydraulics, submersible turbine pumps, monitoring equipment, and point of sale systems.
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine appropriate cost-effective solutions.
  • Evaluate each job site for safety hazards and always work in a safe manner.
  • Complete online and in-person training courses to receive and maintain service credentials and maintain equipment knowledge base.
  • Respond to after-hours emergency service requests for "site down" or other priority situations in an on-call rotation.
  • Be available for out-of-town overnight stays if needed for project needs and training purposes.
  • Take daily directions from the Service Dispatcher for calls to be completed.
  • Complete dispatched service calls timely and efficiently.
  • Accurately complete all necessary forms for each service call – work orders, inventory, checklists, etc.
  • Maintain accurate time records for payroll and submit them daily.
  • Recognize and effectively communicate opportunities to increase efficiency during field visits/dispatches.
  • Maintain a neat, orderly, and well-organized service vehicle and inventory of repair parts.
  • Maintain all tools required to perform all duties effectively and safely.
  • Communicate with Inventory Coordinator to verify inventory and replenish what is needed on truck.
  • Be accountable for truck stock inventory and the return of unused/core parts to the warehouse.
  • Communicate with customers, being able to explain the issues and the repairs to customers that do not fully understand the equipment.
  • Treat every customer with respect and professionalism.
  • Present yourself professionally as a company representative and be prompt when making service calls.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Skills

  • 2 years of experience in mechanical services and relevant technical skills including general maintenance.
  • Preferred to have experience with petroleum service stations but not required.
  • Preferred to be Wayne and/or Verifone certified but not required.
  • Knowledge of computer software and networking a plus.
  • Knowledge of electricity and electrical equipment.
  • Able to comprehend and interpret equipment, operating, and maintenance manuals and instructions.
  • Proficient in the use of personal computers and smart phones.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong customer relations skills.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills (identify, analyze, implement).
  • Organizational skills required to adhere to service schedules, neat and orderly work vehicles, and inventory needs.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, positive attitude, and ability to work as a team member.
  • Willingness to work in all varied weather conditions.
  • No sensory aversion to petroleum products.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and DOT driving requirements.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50 pounds as needed or with assistance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
