The Crowne Plaza Los Angeles Harbor Hotel in San Pedro, CA, is seeking a Senior Sales Manager responsible for attaining assigned sales goals for the assigned market, including BT Sales. The right candidate will be someone who enjoys interacting with people and readily displays warm hospitality to all guests.

The hotel was recently renovated and is located in the heart of Little Italy and just a quick walk to the Battleship IOWA Museum and the LA World Cruise Center; and is proud to be San Pedro’s premier full-service hotel. The Blu Restaurant and Bar offers an eclectic menu and a full selection of beverages from the bar. The hotel has more than 17,000 feet of meeting space, including a Grand Ballroom that can accommodate up to 300, and feature a massive, fully renovated pool deck, which boasts a full bar in the summer season.

Principal Responsibilities:

In addition to being responsible for goals set within their assigned markets, the Senior Sales Manager will initiate potential business account interest, solicits, negotiates, and secure contracts for hotel business for specific assigned markets. The Sales Manager will work with the Director of Sales to achieve the hotel’s revenue and market share goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Actively solicits corporations as well as group and meetings business from decision makers through phone calls, site inspections, tele-prospecting, email prospecting, blitzing, and sales trips.
  • Effectively attain assigned sales and revenue goals.
  • Cultivates develops, and maintains relationships with assigned accounts through regular cultivation and development.
  • Respond to client requests on a same-day basis and ensure that proposals and contracts meet the hotel's requirements.
  • Plan and strategize based on market trends within the segment to meet or exceed room night and other revenue goals.
  • Represents the hotel with prospective customers to provide necessary information on hotel facilities and services and to determine levels of interest.
  • Manages and negotiates account details and contracts so that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
  • Communicates and plans for operations department’s participation in servicing accounts.
  • Formulates program and submits formal sales proposals to prospective customers.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sales, develop and facilitate marketing, public relations, and media projects, applicable to their market segments to maximize revenue.
  • Attends trade shows/events and makes personal calls on customers which may involve travel within or outside the United States, dependent on assigned markets.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essentials functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the hotel sales process to include lead generation, solicitation, negotiation and closing techniques.
  • Ability to read English language to fully comprehend guest requests, memos, proposals, general correspondence, and similar written materials.
  • Advanced English language writing skills for formulation of proposals, memos, and general correspondence
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong interpersonal skills

QUALIFYING STANDARDS

Education

Four-year college degree preferred.

Experience

Minimum of five years of hospitality sales management experience, preferably in the same market.

Grooming

All team members must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance (specific standards available).

The ideal candidate will put pride in their work, be reliable, and be friendly and professional at all times. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel.
