The Job


The Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk is recruiting for Senior Records Technicians who train staff; provide technical assistance; resolve the most difficult document classification problems for filing or recording; and interpret and make determinations as to the recordability and/or filing of documents in unusual, difficult, or complex cases. Additionally, Senior Records Technicians identify and classify documents for conformance to proper legal form and to State and County laws; provide clerical support for issuance of marriage licenses, vital records, fictitious business name filings and other legal filings; interpret legal descriptions of property; post changes in title transfers; compute and accept payment of proper fees and transfer taxes; assign and post identifying and recording instrument information; assist the public in person, by phone, and by correspondence in locating desired records; answer recording/filing questions; operating/traveling with RV/Mobile office and travel to satellite offices throughout the County for coverage, training, and/or oversight.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Travel: 1) Work locations may vary to meet departmental needs. 2) Incumbents will be required to provide their own transportation, be willing to travel to all locations as needed, and work some evenings, weekends, and holidays. 3) Offices are currently located in Hesperia and San Bernardino. Additional satellite locations may be added. 4)RV/Mobile office traveling throughout San Bernardino County. 5 ) At the time of hire, a valid California Class C driver license and proof of automobile liability insurance must be produced for the individual providing the transportation. Mileage reimbursement is available.

COMPETITIVE SALARY & BENEFITS
Bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to Step 14
3% Annual Across-the-Board Salary Increases in February 2024/2025**

**Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Proposition 172 Sales Tax Collections performance.

Minimum Requirements

Option 1: Eighteen (18) months as a Records Technician or equivalent in a California County Assessor, Recorder, or County Clerk's office.

Option 2: Three (3) years of experience processing legal or recordable documents in a legal court, government agency, or real estate, title, or similar office setting which includes one (1) year of lead experience; supervisory experience is desired.

Note: Equivalent experience includes interpreting and applying government codes or policies related to document examining and/or processing of legal documents related to real and personal property titles, Marriage Licenses, Fictitious Business Names, and Vital Records in a California County Assessor, Recorder, or County Clerk's office.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal Candidate will have a thorough understanding of the laws, regulations, and policies governing the Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk's office; be detail oriented; possess excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); and the ability to tactfully and courteously interact with the public while explaining specific information.
