Product Strategist Job Description

General

  • A Product Strategist identifies new opportunities, assesses the company's product performance, and helps develop its long-term strategic plans for future product lines.
  • Collaborates with a wide variety of functional areas such as sales, engineering, marketing, manufacturing, and operations to develop product.

Communicate Voice of Customer

  • Specifying and overseeing the research needed to determine the needs of customers
  • Understand and represent user needs
  • Perform market research to determine what customers are most interested in and what their interests are likely to be in the future.

Provide Product Training for Customers, Sales and Customer Service

  • Create training materials
  • Set-up and execute training of the Sales and Customer Service teams
  • Provide ongoing support to Sales and Customer Service as products deploy
  • Train customers on new products and best practices for procedures

Build and Maintain a Strategic Product Roadmap

  • Gain strong understanding of existing company product or services as well a business position and competition

(hands-on here is a plus)

  • Develop and manage a multi-year value creation plan and review new adhoc business opportunities objectively against that plan
  • Weigh sales and customer feedback against market and voice of customer (VOC) research to determine responsive product definition that best aligns with the company portfolio

Create New Product Development Business Cases, Marketing Recommendations and Revenue Forecasts

  • Provide Marketing with the following items: product features and benefits, technical specifications, selling points, user journey, claims grid, competitor analysis.
  • Create a business case including revenue forecasts for all new products shown on the product roadmap

Develop and Manage Beta Test Sites

  • Coordinate locations for Beta Site testing.
  • Provide New Product Development with product needed.
  • Be on site for the installation and training
  • Check in on a regular basis to see how the product is performing
  • Communicate any resulting customer recommendations.

Provide Competitive Analysis

  • Develop deep knowledge of the market and communicate quarterly to the Solaire team – identify opportunities, research, and predict trends, market growth, % of market opportunities, overall market size, competitors, market positioning, brand identity, etc.
  • Provide competitive analysis materials comparing the product with it is key competitors.

Develop Functional Specs for New Product Development Projects

  • Review designs against product definition and collaboratively make decisions to keep direction clear during development
  • Be an expert on regulatory requirements – FDA, AAMI, etc.

Breakdown Barriers between Corporate & Sales

  • Build relationships with both teams
  • Relay recommendations for product improvements
  • Support the Sales Team at in-service of new products at customer sites

Create Pre-Launch and Post Launch System

  • Develop the steps for each phase
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to create templates

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • 60% of the time is spent sitting and may be for prolonged periods while traveling by car.
  • 40% of the time is spent in a standing or walking position. Standing may be required for prolonged periods of time while supporting the company at trade shows and continuing education courses
  • Overnight travel & air travel is required.
  • Surroundings: Work is performed in meeting rooms, convention centers, airplanes, and offices where exposure to disagreeable elements is minimized
  • Lifting and carrying is normally limited to items less than 15 lbs. for distances up to 40-50 feet. During travel, expected lifting and carrying could be up to 40 lbs. for much longer distances
  • Simple and firm grasping is an ongoing requirement. Delicate manipulation to demonstrate company products is expected

Requirements:

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, vendor credentialling is required
  • Must be able to pass a company sponsored drug test. A pre-employment drug test will be required and there is a potential requirement for random drug testing
  • Background check is required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $105,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
