Darigold is seeking a highly motivated and professional individual to join their Finance team supporting and located at Darigold production plant in Boise, Idaho.. This position reports directly to the Plant Controller and will support accounting, control, and analysis for all areas of the plant accounting processes. The Plant Accountant will also partner with Operations in support of plant initiatives, reporting, monitoring, and analysis through development of strong working relationships with production and support departments at the plant as well as Corporate Accounting and Finance functions.

What You Will Do

  • General Accounting - Ensure compliance with Darigold and plant accounting processes, policies, and procedures. Maintain integrity of plant general ledger and balance sheet. Participate in plant reporting, account reconciliations, variance analysis, fixed asset accounting and reviews, customer claims, etc. Takes a lead role in inventory accounting. Liaison with, and support requests from, Corporate Finance personnel including General Accounting, Manufacturing Accounting, Supply Chain Finance, Cost Accounting, Shared Financial Services and Tax. Other duties as assigned.
  • Cost Accounting - Provide direct support for the monthly financial close and reporting cycle. Prepare a variety of month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and reports. Assist in reviewing and refining product cost standards for losses/shrinks, labor, and overhead.
  • Inventory Management - Responsible for physical inventory controls, accurate inventory valuation and maintenance of standards. Generate manufacturing variance, finished goods, and material inventory reports. Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to resolve discrepancies.
  • Operations Analysis - Support Boise Plant Controller by analyzing trends, compiling historical data, preparing schedules, managing plant AP tasks, investigating plant spend changes, and performing other duties as assigned.
  • Decision Support/Business Partnering - Partner with plant management and staff to support objectives of Operations team including the Focused Improvement program. Participate in plant problem solving and analytics to help drive performance. Participate in plant continuous improvement activities/teams as assigned. Provide manufacturing support and analysis in a variety of areas including process performance and line efficiency, capital spending, inventory management, production costing, cost reduction initiatives, etc.
  • Boise Accounting Staff Support – In addition to supporting the daily finance management tasks at the plant - this role is responsible for backfilling the other accounting staff duties as needed.
  • Data Integrity/Internal Controls – Support the Plant Controller to ensure that plant activity for production, shipments, plant expenses, inventory adjustments are recorded timely and accurately so that information can be relied upon for accounting, financial reporting, supply chain execution, and analysis (e.g. manufacturing losses).

What You Bring

  • Accounting experience with month-end closing processes including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and analysis to ensure accurate period reporting.
  • Self-starter with personal accountability for professional development and a results orientation to meet deadlines in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Strong team player with demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Working experience with accounting or plant systems (e.g. Oracle, Kronos, Reporting Tools)
  • Internal control orientation and understanding of basic U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Intermediate proficiency in EXCEL (creation of pivot tables, look up functions, troubleshoot formula errors)
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset and constructively challenges the status quo.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 3 to 5 years prior accounting experience (manufacturing environment preferred; food processing experience a plus
