Career Recruiting Specialists is partners with a major paper mill located in the Barnwell, SC area. This company was founded in 1964, and produces, converts and markets packaging and tissue products that are composed mainly of recycled fibers. The Company employs 11,000 employees, who work in more than 90 production units located in North America and Europe.

We are seeking an experienced tissue mill asset leader with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in this role and environment. This company offers competitive benefits and compensation.

Summary

  • Disassemble mechanical equipment to repair or replace worn or broken parts and reassemble.
  • Adjusts and center lined sensors or parts of mechanical devices as needed. Inspects completed repairs. Performed preventive maintenance on equipment in accordance with established preventive maintenance program which was developed and optimized by me and my team.
  • Provide basic maintenance to plant structure and performed electrical and light plumbing work. Recommended repairs by external vendors.
  • Document maintenance work performed and maintained related records and MSDS. Requisitioned new or replacement parts, tools or equipment for the approval of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Provide input for the annual Plant budget and capital expenditures and planning. Daily operations involving the use of SAP, PLC, Asset center, and various programs in troubleshooting, operations, and planning.
  • Assist with the planning and installation or rearrangement of machinery or equipment. Assisted with investigations of work related accidents and injuries or sabotage that involve machines, equipment and/or tools.
  • Participate in the development of new equipment and finished goods processes. Communicate regularly with the Plant Manager, Supervisors, Purchasing, and Plant Administrators in order to coordinate matters related to maintenance of equipment. Maintain knowledge of current trends in the field and maintains appropriate licensure or certifications.
  • Attend appropriate training programs to remain current on machines, equipment and other maintenance related areas.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Actively demonstrate Environmental, Health and Safety as a value for all activities. Influence mindsets to identify and address risks within each task while ensuring compliance with regulations, corporate policies, and plant guidelines.
  • Establish plans to deliver and continuously improve key performance indicators in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People Development. Provide leadership, supervision, and coordination to ensure that crews establish and sustain respective standards
  • Strengthen communication and accountability of self-managed teams in each area.
  • Maintain positive employee relations to improve a self-directed operation of a successful mill.
  • Develop plans to continuously build technician capability through coaching and functional leader career development.
  • Engage in open and timely dialogue, through the use and of independent judgment, listening, coaching, and other feedback techniques to discuss performance, career growth, developmental opportunities, recognition, and behavior modification.
  • Lead lean capability development and utilization of lean tools; continuously evolve the Daily Accountability Process, Standard Work, OPEX & Leader Standard Work.
  • Provide effective leadership and supervision for maintenance work performed and/or mechanical process changes made in their area of responsibility to ensure the least possible amount of downtime and ensure efficient operations.
  • Evaluate recommendations from engineering sources for product or process innovations to ensure changes are compatible with operating goals.
  • Develop and ensure the implementation of special plant and corporate projects to meet cost management objectives, increase company profitability, and meet changing production requirements.
  • Ensure the effective application of internal control systems and procedures by providing leadership and support for the implementation, maintenance, and audit of corporate and plant internal control policies, instructions, and procedures.
  • Develop and lead system, process, and standard improvements in operations. Provide leadership of focused improvements to both aid in building peer capability and effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership to ensure the organization attracts, develops, and retains the best people and fosters an environment which motivates a diverse team to fully use its capabilities in achieving the desired business results.
  • Contribute to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve business objectives.
  • Comply with the standards and requirements of the Mills EHS Management System

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Engineering OR Pulp and Paper Science
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing role(s) supporting paper making operations
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, communicate with, and mentor others in a manufacturing environment
  • Competency with Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • 3 years or more experience in manufacturing role(s) supporting paper making operations
  • Requires knowledge and ability associated with a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Working knowledge of Safety requirements and EHS systems and standards.
  • Broad knowledge and significant experience in operations, engineering or project management.
  • Ability to provide coaching for performance and career development to both the Hourly and Salaried teams.
