Your contribution!

The Transmission and Interconnection Manager is responsible for managing and supporting all transmission-related activities for a multitude of high-value wind, solar and energy storage projects under development within the United States. Your technical experience and understanding of renewable energy projects, ability to negotiate and communicate, and your background working on collaborative teams will make you the ideal candidate.

Your day-to-day!

  • Develop and manage transmission and interconnection strategies for potential projects;
  • Support the Development, M&A / Finance, Engineering, Construction, and Operations and Maintenance teams regarding new and existing renewable energy project opportunities;
  • Lead feasibility level, available transmission/injection capacity and other transmission system impact modeling and studies. Interface with, and manage transmission-related third-party engineers and other consultants as necessary;
  • Prepare project transmission-related fatal flaw analyses and evaluate opportunities for accessing new transmission systems. Identify competition in target areas and constraints;
  • Prepare and submit interconnection application and transmission service requests;
  • Research, study, track and verify progress of transmission service through OASIS and other utility services for Innergex projects, acquisition opportunities, and competing requests;
  • Closely monitor interconnection queues with regards to project progress, and coordinate with the Development team;
  • Research and report on regional transmission development issues including planned system upgrades, interconnection queue reforms, transmission service study reforms, and market and tariff reforms.

Your skills, our requirements!

  • Strong knowledge of transmission operational issues, including congestion management, transmission loading relief, curtailment, re-dispatch and operation guides, imbalance service, real-time and day-ahead scheduling, reactive power, capacity, location marginal pricing (LMP), transmission service fees, ancillary services, SCED and system impact modeling;
  • Bachelor of Science and / or Master’s Degree(s) in electrical engineering; a Business Minor or MBA would be an asset;
  • A minimum of five 5 -7 years of transmission planning;
  • Experience in the independent power industry is preferred (wind, solar, battery storage);
  • Experience working on transmission and interconnection activities throughout the U.S. (PJM, WECC, and ERCOT market knowledge, a plus);
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret regulatory documents, transmission studies, engineering reports and interconnection agreements;
  • Proficient with appropriate software including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), PowerWorld or equivalent power flow software, and PROMOD;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and on a multitude of project teams.

Additional considerations!

The position is based at our San Diego (California) office.

  • Availability to travel domestically approximately 10% of the time.
