Overview:

The Senior Manager, Accounting Shared Services will be responsible for the accounting shared services activities of the Company. It is expected that these services will expand and evolve over time with the needs of the Company. Initial scope will include interim leadership for the Community Associations business unit, Clubs program accounting leadership, and process improvement for critical areas of the department including accounts payable, disbursements, and expense reimbursements. A key component of this position is to provide leadership and collaboration with other team members in the implementation of new technology and driving increased efficiency across the Company, while identifying areas of the accounting process flow which should be converted to a consolidated shared services function.


While the position can be remote, travel to Suncadia is expected 4 - 6 times per year.

Responsibilities:

Shared Services

  • Oversee accounting shared activities of the Company, including hospitality, real estate, Tumble Creek and Community Associates
    • This may include payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, and property management
  • Provide leadership of Clubs department; support efforts to create efficiencies and seek out opportunity to drive revenue in partnership with Clubs leaders
  • Participate in annual budgeting process, collaborate with others within finance and with internal customers to ensure an accurate and achievable budget
  • Contribute to forecasting and monthly reporting requirements
  • Identify shared services KPIs, set goals and regularly report against those goals
  • Promote a single-team mentality that encourages ownership and collaboration above organization or job defined boundaries
  • Develop a culture that recognizes the importance of quality information and the value it drives across the organization
  • Encourage an environment of curiosity, learning and growth. Seek to discover new ways in which the team can drive healthy earnings improvements and efficiencies

Technology Implementation

  • In partnership with other leaders within Finance and across the organization, identify areas which would benefit from new or increased use of technology, create business cases including financial impact, and drive towards approval and execution of these initiatives
  • Regularly track and monitor results against business case; provide regular updates to management and Investors
  • Lead the Oracle upgrade project, coordinate with corporate IT team regarding requirements, design, and implementation

Interim Community Associations (CA) Leader – 6 to 8 months

  • Record recurring journal entries for the various HOAs, ensuring accurate financial statements
  • Oversee accounts payable approval process
  • Monitor and resolve homeowner accounting questions
  • Manage reserve funds, actively monitor CD expiration dates to maximize earnings potential while following contractual obligations
  • Present financials in quarterly Bord meetings
  • Develop budget process timeline in collaboration with CA management team, work to mitigate timeline risks and ensure deadlines are reached
  • Oversee the filing and payment of monthly and quarterly taxes
  • Manage income tax return preparation
  • Manage audit preparation and fieldwork
  • Provide oversight to team member and external resources
  • Convert accounts payable and payment process to electronic end-to-end

Process Efficiency and Effectiveness Improvement

  • Collaborate across the financial and accounting team to identify process improvement opportunities; some of these may overlap with technology implementation efforts
  • Design and implement improvements to identified processes, driving towards either or both higher efficiency and effectiveness
  • Measure and report on improvements regularly to management and Investors
  • Document major processes and update for any major changes
  • Provide trainings to team members on changes in processes or new tools that support overall team efficiency and effectiveness
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in accounting and at least 6 years progressive professional experience
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Extensive experience in implementing new technology, changing processes and training team members to fully utilize those improvements
  • Proven track record for increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of key processes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software applications
  • Excellent computer skills, including experience with integrated accounting software systems; experience with Oracle and Yardi (or equivalent) software a plus
  • Strong attention to detail, while also applying critical thinking to what the detail is telling you and whether it makes sense within the context of the situation
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities with a high degree of flexibility and accountability, in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to collaborate and support highly engaged, hybrid teams
Compensation: $110,00 - 120,000 annually, with achievement bonus eligibilty targeted at approximately 10%.
