Position Summary
Reports directly to the Associate Provost for Institutional Analytics, the Senior Institutional Research Analyst will support the Institutional Research office's core activity of capturing, analyzing and interpreting data for university decision-making. The incumbent will be able to present the salient results of research in a clear, concise and compelling fashion.
The Senior Institutional Research Analyst will have the interest and skill in conducting quantitative and qualitative research and foridentifying, analyzing, and presenting institutional data trends related to enrollment, retention, graduation, demographics, studentoutcomes and other measures.
This work will involve developing clear research objectives and questions, working with executives, faculty and staff across the university tocollect and refine data, producing descriptive and inferential analyses, synthesizing findings in written and graphical reports, and presentingresults to audiences. This position will also develop planning reports and materials for program review, that describe the scope, quality, andimpact of academic programs.
Position Information
Research, Reporting, and Data Analysis:
Conducts research studies using appropriate analytical methods.
Translates quantitative data into information; designs and produces periodic reports for campus decisionmakers, accrediting bodiesand external agencies, and clearly presents data in narrative, tabular and graphical formats.
Assures integrity in analysis and reporting, including the ability to analyze complex data sets and troubleshoot data integrity issues.
Collaborates and communicates effectively with diverse constituencies. Represents the office on committees and provides consultativeservices as needed.
Writes and communicates effectively on the data presentation. Designs and produces reports that present accurate, consistent data inclear and appropriate narrative, tabular and graphical formats. Presents information to technical and non-technical audiences in acogent and meaningful manner.
Project Management
Works independently, effectively manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications
Knowledges and Abilities:
General knowledge of administrative survey principles and techniques and skill in their application; general knowledge
of principles of organization and management; thorough knowledge of the subject area of the assignment; working
knowledge of statistical methods.
Ability to relate the overall objectives and policies of the Trustees, the Office of the Chancellor and the administration
and faculties of the campus to analytical and research studies; ability to see the interrelationships within and among
the various educational, administrative and fiscal programs on the campuses; sensitivity to the special needs of
various campuses because of different size, location, characteristics and circumstances; ability to approach problems
objectively; ability to present findings and recommendations clearly and diplomatically and to reconcile, to the extent
possible, various divergent points of view; ability to utilize complex statistical and other types of research methods;
ability to draw conclusions and develop recommendations, to prepare written reports, and to develop and level
contacts including the leading of meetings and negotiations.

Experience:
Four years of progressively responsible administrative, technical, or professional analytical experience which
demonstrates ability to conduct substantive surveys and studies of problems and issues in assigned areas.

Education:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree preferred in a technical field that requires significant work in research and statistical methods(computer science or information science preferred, or social science, business, statistics, etc.) or an equivalent combination of education and experience to successfully perform job responsibilities.
  • Two or more years of applied research experience with analysis in an academic setting required. Experience with student and facultyinformation strongly desired.
  • Ability to conduct research studies using appropriate analytical methods.
  • Experience in project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage several projects simultaneously and meetdeadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate quantitative data into information, to design and produce periodic reports for campus decisionmakers, accrediting bodies and external agencies, and to clearly present data in narrative, tabular and graphical formats.
  • Experience in assuring integrity in analysis and reporting, including the ability to analyze complex data sets and troubleshoot dataintegrity issues.
  • Demonstrated skill in collaborating and communicating effectively with diverse constituencies. Ability to represent the office on committees and provide consultative services as needed.
