The Senior Human Resources Generalist will provide high-level expertise, advice, and counsel in areas of Human Resources including leadership coaching, employee relations, compensation, benefits, employment law, unemployment, and performance management. This position will play an active role in the development and implementation of policies and procedures. The Senior Human Resources Generalist will promote a Servant Leadership approach and represent Douglas Machine in a professional manner at all times.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

Demonstrate a tenacious and disciplined service excellence approach using the “6+1” model (quality, professional courtesy, can-do attitude, responsiveness, convenience and aggressive follow-up).

Leads HR initiatives such as coaching managers on performance management and employee development.

Assist in the development of policies and procedures including preparing and maintaining employee handbook.

Conduct investigations, document and recommend appropriate disciplinary actions as a result of policy violations such as harassment and reasonable suspicion.

Provide oversight to benefit policies and procedures, and related documents as requested.

Provide leadership and functional responsibility for the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of corporate health promotions.

Manage annual insurance renewal and open enrollment; arrange for distribution and collection of materials, communicate changes to employees, arrange on-site presentation, and process changes within deadlines.

Work with Human Resources Director and Insurance Broker in researching benefit plans and vendors.

Prepare and provide benefits information to auditors for ESOP Plan and 401(k) Plan audits.

Prepare and file company Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting requirements.

Process unemployment claims and represent the company at administrative hearings.

Participate in local area and industry benefit surveys; analyze results and compare to the market.

Conduct employee exit interviews and maintain database to track reasons behind separation.

File EEO-1 report annually; maintain other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.

Write, revise and maintain job descriptions.

Participate in the development in department goals, objectives and systems.

Schedule and communicate company employee events and activities.

Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual HR reports as requested.

Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Expert knowledge in employment laws and practices.

  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and demonstrated skills in database management and record keeping.
  • Effective oral and written communication.

  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and attention to detail skills.
  • Strong conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability toanticipate deadlines and the capability to prioritize and complete multiple projects.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and other Human Resources programs.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and five years of HR Generalist experience, or equivalent education and/or experience. PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
  • Manufacturing HR experience preferred.
