Dentons is currently recruiting for a Senior Financial / Business Analyst to be resident in Indianapolis, Louisville, or Lexington office. The successful candidate for this position will be able to prepare consolidated financial reporting, calculate and coordinate incentive settlements, help develop an annual budget and monitor progress against it, provide routine reporting, perform detailed analysis and analytics on available data sets, synthesize data and provide articulate and concise summaries, create standardized processes and procedures and assist in financial due diligence for strategic opportunities. As a law firm, there is an expectation that all personnel observe confidentiality obligations.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly consolidated financial reporting from results provided by member firms. Analyze results and provide conclusions/talking points.
  • Leverage existing tools and systems to pull data and calculate incentive fees owed between firms. Establish simple reporting protocols for communicating amounts owed to member firms and track payments made.
  • Develop, analyze and monitor annual budgets. Distribute monthly reports tracking actual versus budget. Maintain expenditure controls and interface with accounts payable to ensure that owed amounts get paid. Support forecasting efforts.
  • Perform detailed analysis and reporting on key aspects of US Region performance including firm financial results, incentive fees generated and trends. Create executive summaries and talking points based the analysis.
  • Assist in due diligence efforts and evaluation of strategic opportunities including with firms interested in joining our firm.
  • Develop protocols and processes that standardize data collection, expectations and financial reporting.
  • Assist with and oversee completion of the US Region’s tax reporting obligations through outside vendors.
  • Provide financial leadership and oversight of the US Region.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Accounting or Finance required, and CPA or MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of accounting and financial analysis experience required.
  • Advanced computer/software proficiency with Microsoft Office products (especially Excel). Experience with Elite Enterprise/3E and Fixed Asset systems.
  • Financial business acumen with demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of income tax preparation at a partnership level, and to a lesser degree individual income tax.
  • Experience with process development and improvement.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and complete them under time constraints.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills necessary in order to conduct detailed analysis on various accounting problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing (email, reports) and orally (presentations).
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with colleagues, including individuals with different reporting responsibilities, in order to work collaboratively to accomplish objectives.
  • Work occasionally requires a high level of mental effort and strain when performing essential duties.
  • Work occasionally requires more than 40 hours per week to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Law Firm or Professional Services firm experience a plus.
