Job Description
Join the Module Development Facility (MDF) as an Engineering Assistant working with an advanced team of engineers and manufacturing technicians in the development and introduction of new product lines at BAE Systems. As an engineering assistant you will primarily be processing Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits, their respective carrier assemblies and other advanced microelectronics utilizing advanced semiconductor wafer dicing machinery. The MDF focuses on early production prototype work which requires frequent interaction with engineers to resolve complex problems.

In this role, you will perform Wafer dicing operations on MMICs, Carrier assemblies and other microelectronics utilizing a dicing saw for the majority of the workday. The process of wafer dicing enables us to harvest many individual MMICs from a single wafer. Given the extremely small dimensions associated with the components on the wafer, the dicing process is one that requires high-quality, high-precision machinery and careful monitoring from skilled operators with the proper training and experience. In this role you will use predetermined methods, operations, setups and prescribed specifications to process wafers and operate associated machinery to ensure compliance to applicable quality specifications and standards. You will also work from blueprints, diagrams, regulatory and BAE specifications, drawing or inspection instructions and checklists in the typical workday.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • 2+ yrs experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • 1+ yrs experience working with electronics parts or assemblies.
  • Experience in cleanroom, ESD and FOD controlled areas.
  • Capable of performing in-process inspection operations on electronic devices utilizing a high-powered microscope for the majority of the workday.
  • Capability of operating manufacturing equipment like automated inspection machines.
  • Computer competency and English literacy is required to ensure the candidate will be capable of following instructions and safety guidelines.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience with wafer fabrication and dicing saws.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment producing military-grade electronics in accordance with Military standards like MIL-STD-883 and/or IPC-A-610
  • Tracking factory hardware and non-conformances in systems like Solumina, Promis and TipQA
