We have an exciting new opportunity for a Director, Retail Operations, to implement strategy and oversee the day-to-day functioning of up to 25 retail stores in the designated area from Denver south to Durango and the Western Slope to include Grand Junction. In conjunction with Senior Retail Management, you will contribute to strategic decision-making and operational execution of company initiatives across retail to enhance and support our mission. We are seeking a strong leader for the consistent application of best practices, to uphold a customer-centric focus, and to utilize Kaizen / process improvement methods to increase efficiency and realize maximum revenue. The Retail Director provides leadership and management to attract, motivate, develop, and retain a high-performance team. The successful candidate must be willing to travel on a daily basis and reside in the south Denver/Colorado Springs area. A relocation package is available for the right candidate.
Salary - $105,000 Annually DOE. This Full Time job is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Retirement, Long Term Disability, Short Term Disability, Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. In addition, this position is eligible for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, holiday, floating holiday, jury duty and bereavement leave.
Position Description
OBJECTIVE:
To support the Sr. Director, Retail with regard to all aspects of decentralized retail center operations through the implementation of best practices, a customer-centric focus, and Kaizen/process improvement efficiencies to realize maximum revenue in support of the mission of the organization. Acts in the Sr. Director, Retails’ stead in the administration of the Retail Operations Department and works through a partnership with retail District Managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a similar concentration preferred. Minimum ten years proven and progressive management experience in a retail and/or thrift operation.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to present at a Board level, offering and exchanging information with others, so that the intended meaning is clear and understood. Must demonstrate the ability to interact with various internal and external customers, and manage multiple projects. Must be able to successfully complete work assignments independently and as a team member. Must demonstrate flexibility and agility within the framework and pressure of established deadlines.
Must be detail-oriented, able to learn specific rules, regulations and standards to maintain compliance and conformance. Must have the ability to multi-task, be organized and possess strong time management skills. Must be neat and professional, always representing Goodwill in the best light.
Must have proven ability to evaluate, recommend, and apply retail industry best practices within thrift industry operations to create an elevated, seamless customer experience. Must be data-driven and results-oriented. Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and benchmarking performance is essential. Must have advanced experience working with computer systems such as Microsoft Office. Must maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.
Per contract requirements with vehicle insurance provider: Qualified candidates must be 21 years of age and have no major traffic violations for the previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes). Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate a company vehicle.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:
General
- Works closely with the Sr. Director, Retail and other Operations and Sales Directors to execute, analyze, and update the 10-Year Retail Plan.
- Provides leadership, training, and support to District Managers and Store Managers in all areas of retail sales management including, but not limited to, customer service,
- Actively supports and participates in process improvement activities that will enhance the efficiency and safety of Goodwill employees.
- Accomplishes assigned goals and objectives within the Department.
- Oversees the donated goods acquisition and collection process for the decentralized operation; ensures donated articles are protected, properly sorted, loaded, unloaded, and
improve efficiency, productivity and professionalism.
- May participate in the purchased goods program to include product selection, inventory management, and merchandising processes.
- Assists in interior design of new stores and develops and executes store openings with regard to set up, fixturing, and personnel requirements.
- Evaluates District Managers and has input into the performance evaluation of all Retail Store Managers.
- Directs District Managers to help Retail Store Managers accomplish specific duties when necessary.
- Ensures that all store personnel are informed of and adhere to company policies.
- Authors and enforces the policies and procedures of the Retail Sales Manual.
- Owns and oversees the Point of Sale System. Ensures effective use of performance metrics to implement continuous process improvement efforts and hold management
- Works with the Sr. Director, Retail to determine new store locations and assists in the processes necessary to open such locations.
- Keeps a watchful eye on the competition and retail trends and recommends a course of action to the Sr. Director, Retail.
- Complies with all OSHA and CARF requirements.
- Approves and authorizes payment of bills up to $5,000.
- Ensures store participation in the Goodwill Retail Safety Committee.
- Working with the District Managers and their Store Managers, ensures accountability of store Safety Representatives for implementation and enforcement of safety protocols and
- Ensures that people supervisors are properly trained and practice sound best practices to manage staff productivity and resolve conflicts as soon as possible. This will help
Planning & Budgeting
- Works with the members of the Operations & Sales Team, the Admin Team, and Retail District Managers to execute annual goals and objectives specified in the annual revenue
- Works with the District Managers along with their Store Managers to help them to set goals and objectives for the Retail Division.
- Oversees and monitors store budgets to ensure sales goals are being met and expenses are within budgeted amounts.
- Provides input into the Operations and Sales management portion of the annual budget. Strategic Planning
- Assist the Sr. Director, Retail in all aspects of Strategic Planning. Must participate in planning processes for key initiatives and track monthly results.
- Provide leadership, training, and support to the District Managers and oversees that they in turn push that training down to the Store Managers and all subordinates in all areas. Ensure continuity of operations at all levels. Ensure open communication.
- Represent Goodwill Operations & Sales Division at various community and/or business meetings to promote the company.
- Participate in Board meetings, senior management meetings, and activities as required.
