The Hillsboro Community Senior Center is seeking a Kitchen Aide that is passionate about food service, connecting with our community members and fostering relationships. This role is more than just dishing up desserts; we are searching for a kitchen aide who is dedicated to their team and thrives on enriching our community members’ lives through fresh meals, with restaurant quality service! No food service experience? No problem! This is an entry level position with ample opportunity to learn how a commercial kitchen operates and how to serve large crowds. Our Senior Center enjoys an outstanding reputation for serving plated meals that tantalize the taste buds. As a kitchen aide, you will assist with lunch service in a dynamic environment to serve excellent lunch meals. General Statement of Duties
Participates with the Senior Center staff in preparing and serving of meals at the Hillsboro Senior Center; performs directly related work as required.

Distinguishing Features Position
The principal function of an employee in this class is to participate with the Senior Center staff in preparing and serving of meals at the Hillsboro Senior Center. The work is performed under the supervision and direction of the Senior Center Chef, but some leeway is granted for the exercise of independent judgement and initiative. The nature of the work performed requires that an employee in this class establish and maintain effective working relationships with the assigned supervisor, co-workers, and the general public. The principal duties of this class are performed in an indoor environment. This is a non-exempt position.

Acceptable Experience and Training

  • High School Diploma or GED; and
  • Some experience in serving food for large groups; or
  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the equivalent scope of knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Additional Information

  • Be able to have current food handlers card or obtain by time of hire;
  • Ability to attend work on a regular, predictable basis as scheduled;
  • Positions in this class typically require: balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Incumbents may be subjected to fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, work space restrictions, intense noises, and travel.
