Join a Top-Shelf Team! Virginia Alcohol and Beverage Control is currently seeking applicants for a Senior Business Analyst.
A Business Analyst in Strategy & Analytics is responsible for providing analytical insights to management in order to facilitate data driven decision making, for making recommendations to improve processes or programs based on analysis, for providing process expertise across the Authority, for creating tools for other divisions to help facilitate decision making, and for serving as a subject matter expert on various aspects of data needed by the Authority.
This role will primarily support the revenue generating businesses of the Authority that report up to the Chief Retail Operating Officer, with a focus on product performance analysis, partnering with Marketing in support of various promotions and processes, and delivering the next generation of analytical reporting needed to continue to drive Authority sales and revenue growth.

Essential Functions
- Program/Project Analysis
- Collaborate with Authority partners to evaluate various projects or programs for effectiveness via available data sources
- Prepare reporting that explains the analysis, highlights important themes and/or recommendations, and communicate reporting both digitally and in person
- Escalate results as appropriate when issues/concerns are noted
- Process Improvement
- Collaborate with Divisions in order to provide an external review of existing processes in order to highlight areas of opportunity
- Work with Divisions to implement areas of opportunity, and perform lessons learned
- Develop Tools
- Develop tools as needed to help Divisions to be able to self-manage certain analytical capabilities, or perform more efficiently
- Examples of this include SKU Optimization tool and the Delisting tool
- Data Expertise
- Partner with other Divisions on data needs, to include highlighting what is currently available, and what’s not available
- Partner with the IT Division to help identify datasets for inclusion in the Data Warehouse based on divisional needs
- Provide data to both internal and external partners as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations, public policy, or related field
- Experience in business analysis, financial analysis, or public policy analysis
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business or public administration
- Lean process experience such as Six Sigma
- Experience with business intelligence or data visualization tools
- Experience with data query tools and processes
- Experience in a retail environment
- Project management experience
