JOB SUMMARY: Protects the hospital, its assets, patients, team members and visitors. Patrols hospital and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and other crimes. Responds to security needs of hospital team members, physicians, patients and visitors. Supervises security officers, shift supervisors, and provides performance feedback to the Director. Resolves issues among the team regarding operational matters. Provides feedback regarding staffing, training, operation of equipment, and interpretation of policies and procedures. Assists with the management of the system-wide computer database. Interacts with patients, families and visitors ranging in age from newborn to the elderly.

Education & Training: Associate’s degree or higher is required. Must obtain International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) certification within one (1) year from date of hire.

Work Orientation & Experience: Five (5) years of related experience (military, security, law enforcement, etc.) is required. At least three (3) years in a supervisory role is also required.

Skills & Abilities: Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret security reports. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in a variety of situations. Must be able to interpret a range of instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule form. Must be able to work well under pressure during emergency situations. Must possess outstanding service excellence skills. Must be able to intervene with physically aggressive individuals. Must be able to make independent decisions and direct the work of others. Must have ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously. Must have ability to prioritize work assignments, complete duties within prescribed time frames.
