Town of East Hampton - Town Clerk's Office - Secretary position. The salary is $50,000-$55,000 and commensurates with experience. Benefits include paid time off, NYSHIP health care coverage and membership in NY State and Local Retirement System.
Responsibilities of the Secretary-Acts as personal and confidential Secretary to the Town Clerk
- Responsible for managing the Town Clerk’s Office including checking the Town Clerk’s calendar, phone messages, mail and emails, scheduling appointments, meetings, and conferences.
- Drafts letters, documents and notices and prints and distributes as directed
- Prepares copies of instructions, office hours and seasonal permit availability for inclusion on the website
- Organizes incoming documents, permits, etc. to assist clerical staff
- Maintains and updates files; assists in all clerical and secretarial duties that enable the Town Clerk’s office to function effectively
- Maintains professional and timely correspondence with Town of East Hampton employees and the public
- Finalizes marriage licenses and mailing certificates
- Reviews and orders all necessary office supplies
- Greets the public and communicates effectively both in person and via phone; responsible for directing people to the appropriate department
- Does related duties as required including the issuance of permits
