Catalent Pharma Solutions is hiring a Scientist in the Organic Spectroscopy group at our site in Morrisville, NC.

The Organic Spectroscopy group performs analyses via a variety of techniques to support our customers’ development and manufacture of life-saving therapeutics. Types of testing conducted by the group include, but are not limited to, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), mass spectrometry (MS), high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS or LC-MS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal gravitational analysis (TGA), and ultraviolet spectroscopy (UV). The Organic Spectroscopy group has a commitment to continuous improvement and growth of our team members. The primary responsibility of this position is in support of mass spectrometry work, but involvement in other techniques as needed to meet customer commitments is expected in this role.

This is a full-time role position: Monday – Friday, days.

The Role

  • Executes laboratory workplans/schedules independently and completes work within the expected timelines
  • Maintains high quality laboratory documentation in accordance with applicable regulatory guidance and site SOPs
  • Authors technical documents, such as protocols, test methods, text reports, certificates of analysis, and operating procedures
  • Reviews technical documents for accuracy, thoroughness, and compliance
  • Executes efficiency improvement project with guidance
  • Identifies and recommends continuous improvement opportunities
  • All other duties as assigned

The Candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7-9 years related experience; OR Master’s degree with 4-6 years related experience; OR Doctorate degree with 0-2 years related experience
  • Requires Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Significant experience with LC-MS is strongly preferred, including single quadrupole, triple quadrupole, ion trap, and/or QToF
  • Prefer Experience with method validation and/or method development
  • Prefer Experience drafting and conducting laboratory investigations
  • Prefer experience working under GMP guidelines
  • Prefer experience with other instrumental techniques such as NMR, GC-MS, LC-MS, FTIR, DSC, TGA
  • Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds
