Join our Mountainside team as a day shift, full time Scheduler!

Responsibilities:

We are looking for a dynamic and passionate Scheduler to join the Mountainside Team!

What You’ll Do
The Infusion Department Scheduler is responsible for scheduling designated infusion department related appointments. Accurately performs the scheduling function in a high volume, fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Acts as a professional liaison for staff, other hospital personnel, medical staff and physician offices.

The successful candidate will be able to:
  • Accept calls from and work with physicians’ offices to schedule Heart Failure, Chemotherapy, Infusions procedures in the Electronic Record Scheduling System.
  • Ensure receipt of all pertinent information related to the booking including insurance information, special requests, accurate booking slips and any other needed documentation.
  • Ensure Discharge patients with recurring appointments have next schedule appointment dates.
  • Work daily with peers, leadership, and physicians’ offices to compress the schedule for efficiencies.
  • Communicates with department leadership on last minute add on and cancellations to ensure adequate resources are available.
  • Schedules office and hospital based medical procedures, for patients with appropriate provider and time/location slot, utilizing appropriate scheduling code.
  • Schedule regular infusion appointments, review all infusion department active orders, linking orders to the patient appointments, review electronic medical record infusion work queues, adding/transcribe or schedule for PET/CT and bone scans.
  • Ensure all pertinent patient information is complete in the department daily schedule.
  • Enter notes/special instructions needed for scheduling in the electronic medical record
  • Print out all prep paperwork (labels and forms to be signed)
  • Monitor schedule daily for any add-ons / changes from day before and print out all necessary registration forms.
  • Ensure Infusion department has adequate supplies. Stock the department with supplies as needed.
  • Monitor daily logs, products in the utility room for expiration. Reorder office supplies and order when necessary.
  • Screen all Lung Cancer calls and coordinate with MMC lung Cancer coordinator.
  • Coordinate patient follow-ups with Survivorship/Nurse Navigator/Social worker and or palliative services.
  • Confirm next day’s patients and take lunch orders and Fax patient lunch orders to kitchen by 10:00 daily.
  • Correspond with Cancer Committee members as needed.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
What You’ll Bring
  • High School Diploma Required
  • 1 year prior experience in appointment scheduling, patient access, or billing or other relevant health care experience is required
  • Inbound high-volume call center experience is preferred
  • Familiar with medical terminology
  • Knowledge of EMR
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Grammar, spelling, and punctuation)
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Exceptional customer service and phone etiquette
  • Ability to maintain effective and organized systems to ensure timely patient flow
