Job Description
Role and Responsibilities
- A Per Diem (PRN) staff member will be placed in a pool of staff to be available on an as needed basis or peak surgery days and to replace regular staff that is absent from work.
- A Per Diem (PRN) staff member does not receive benefits.
- All Per Diem (PRN) staff is required to work at least 24 hours per month to maintain PRN status. Position can be terminated if requirement is not fulfilled.
- Per Diem (PRN) staff must be trained and willing to work in all nursing departments. Level of training will be based on experience and departmental needs.
- May be required to float to other areas as needed.
- Must complete annual competencies.
- Required to attend home department staff meetings.
- If unable to attend department meetings employee is required to read and sign meeting minutes/notes.
- When census is low, staff will be called off accordingly. Per Diem (PRN) staff will be called off first. If called for low census, hours scheduled to work will count towards the 24-hour obligation.
- Performance appraisals will be conducted per policy for all PRN staff.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Kansas
Radiologic Technician - Kansas Radiologic Technologist License and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) Certification, or board eligible.
Experience as a Surgical Technician preferred
CPR Certification for all specialties
ACLS, and PALS Certification (PACU only) for Registered Nurses only.
Demonstrates ability to stand and/or walk up to 12 hours per day.
Demonstrates ability to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis.
Demonstrates ability to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
Occupational Exposure
Category I exposure to bloodborne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
