Duties:

Provide age-appropriate care for patients from Neonate to Adult, considering development age in approach to and preparation of child; implement safety measures that are appropriate to developmental age; utilize age-appropriate equipment and supplies

Assess patients with input from patient and/or their family in an organized and systematic manner; collect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care; analyze situations, anticipate potential problems, and detect/address changes in patient status

Develop, implement and evaluate individualized plans of care, involving patient/family in the plans of care; reprioritize/update plans of care based on changes in patient conditions, communicate to other healthcare team members, and document in the medical record; participate in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences

Execute therapeutic physician- or nurse-initiated interventions according to established standards of practice and appropriate policies and procedures related to care delivery; demonstrate mastery of generic and job-specific competencies

Assess patient/family learning needs, capabilities, preferences and readiness to learn prior to teaching; identify actual/potential barriers to learning (emotional, physical, cognitive, etc.) and utilize teaching strategies and materials as appropriate to the learning ability of the patient/family; formulate, implement and document individualized teaching plan based on assessment; evaluate effectiveness and modify teach plan accordingly

Demonstrate commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and customer service skills; serve as a patient/family advocate while caring for patients and collaborating with other healthcare team members

Demonstrate ability to problem solve, identify appropriate resources, adapt to ongoing change, and handle conflict management with a professional and supportive attitude; maintain confidentiality of patient information

Utilize patient supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner; administer and document medications and treatments in a timely manner

Maintain professional development of self and participates in development of others; acquire new knowledge and skills needed to improve individual, team and organizational performance

Skills:

Knowledge of the principals of biological, physical and social science; observation, assessment, intervention, evaluation, care and counsel
Knowledge of related OSHA, CLIA and Joint Commission guidelines and requirements, general office tasks, confidentiality, and filing system
Ability to implement developmental (age-appropriate) nursing practices
Ability to administer, supervise, and evaluate nursing practices, policies, and procedures
Ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills, good time and resource management skills, flexibility, strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to type, file, and use a multi-line telephone, computer, fax, and copier
Ability to operate unit specific equipment

MUST HAVE 3 YEARS MINIMUM PEDIATRIC EXP. IN A HOSPITAL SETTING

Education:

Associate (or higher) Degree in Nursing
Current Texas RN license or permit required
Bachelors in Science in Nursing Degree preferred

Certifications & Licenses: License-Registered Nurses Texas State Board of Nursing- Required RN

Location:

Medical Center area 77030 (6621 Fannin St.)

SHIFT: 10-hour shifts are 7:00-5:30 and 8:30-7:00. 7:00-5:30 shift requires one late shift per week. also have the option of 12-hours 7-7 and a 4-hour shift to make 40 hours is optional
