Job Summary

This expert level role facilitates risk management activities for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project and takes a lead role in managing our risk management processes, preparing risk assessment reports, risk mitigation strategies, and leading routine risk review meetings. Provides coaching, mentoring, and coordination with scope package owners to ensure consistency across identified risks and the effectiveness their mitigation strategies.


Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Facilitates CVOW’s risk management activities including risk assessment sessions;
  • Utilizes dashboards to highlight project risk profiles and mitigation strategies to project leadership
  • Establishes metrics for in depth risk analysis and risk managing strategies
  • Conducts Monte Carlo simulations and other predictive analysis to quantify future project impacts
  • Prepares updates to be presented to executive management on major risks and mitigation measures including a general overview of recent risk management activities;
  • Recommends actions and facilitates activities relating to risk management;
  • Updates CVOW’s risk management procedures;
  • Interfaces seamlessly with the CVOW project team and has previous knowledge and experience supporting large construction projects.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience


The knowledge, skills, abilities and education required for entry into this job include the following:

  • At least 7 years directly related construction and/or risk management experience;
  • Strong knowledge of risk management principles;
  • Strong skills in relating interpersonally with officers, directors, managers, supervisors, and other employees;
  • Advanced ability to assess risks and to prepare reports highlighting key risks and mitigation strategies;
  • Good knowledge of general company business process flows;
  • Good knowledge of general safety and construction practices;
  • Excellent analytical skills and understanding of risk management techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and must be well organized.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to associates and management.
  • Ability to provide leadership in a team environment;
  • Ability to present information to key employees in an organized and effective manner;
  • Ability to function independently and to understand when management review and approval is required;
  • Ability to gather information, analyze, and resolve issues effectively;

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E5-E9, W1-CW5, or O3-O6 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above / below).
