RISK ANALYST - RISK ASSESSMENT DEPT.

​*Job Summary*

The Risk Analyst (SOX) performs and analyses procedures and internal controls related to financial reporting, classifies deficiencies related to Sarbanes Oxley sections 302 and 404, and presents results to management.

Essential Responsibilities

•Have knowledge of the various regulations affecting financial reporting such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (“SOX”), FASB’s ASC pronouncements, and banking and government enacted regulations such as Dodd-Frank, FDIC, OFAC and others.

•Understands the rationale from the COSO and COBIT frameworks and applies knowledge as part of the assessment of internal controls and processes for the areas in-scope for SOX.

•Performs walkthroughs with the various business areas by interviewing the bank personnel and reviewing their documentation of business processes and activities (e.g., procedure manuals, transactional flows, policies and guidance).

•Documents understanding of the business processes and its core systems in narratives, flowcharts and risk control matrixes following a “state-of-the-art” approach and methodology.

•Evaluates any changes in control activities, processes and/or core systems to determine its criticality with respect to the Corporation’s financial reporting information and asks questions related to those changes, as necessary.

•Understand financial accounting concepts and applies knowledge while identifying significant fluxes in scoped-in FSLIs, period-over-period (e.g., financial scoping assessments).

•Identify corporate critical applications based on financial scoping and is able to design general controls over information systems (“ITGCs”)

•Maintains open communication with the team, communicates periodically on progress for assigned tasks and ensures deadlines established are met, as applicable.

•Executes with due diligence on tasks assigned and provides prompt results.

•Evaluates control deficiencies identified timely and documents results in detail following the framework for evaluation of deficiencies.

•Able to work in a fast-paced environment and is able to deliver within the established deadlines.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance required. Two to three years of related experience, at least one on internal and/or external audit and SOX testing. CPA, CFE, CIA or CISA preferred but not required. Written and oral fluency in English and Spanish is required.
