The pay rate for this position is $17.391. (Effective July 1, 2023, the pay rate will increase to $18.26).

Examples of Work
  • Read and interpret title reports to determine the appropriate legal contracts and/or deed to convey the real property rights needed for specific project tracts.
  • Prepare (write, proof, and print) Right of Way Contracts and Real Property Deeds.
  • Prepare support documents as necessary including, but not limited to Affidavits, Allocation of Proceeds, and Easement Interest Agreements.
  • Assist Right of Way Agents in production of mail-out offer packets and creating payment statements.
  • Prepare document revisions throughout the negotiation discovery period as necessary.
  • Prepare documents for the Attorney General's office in the event of eminent domain action.
  • Perform general communication activities including writing emails and answering phones as necessary.
  • Perform other ROW Division duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements

REQUIREMENTS: Experience in reviewing construction plans and/or legal descriptions or related field of work. OR Technical education in preparing construction plans and/or legal descriptions or related field of study.

PREFERRED: Experience in real estate principles and terminology. Post high school coursework/training in real property or a related field or experience in real property. At least two years of experience in office, clerical, and word processing procedures and training and/or exposure to related software. Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite and NIS.

OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance is required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of real property appraisal and acquisition terminology, practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of real property surveys, real estate terminology, and legal descriptions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with agency staff and the public.
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computers, photocopiers, scanners.
  • Ability to learn proprietary software (i.e. NDOT ROW ARMS program which was created to track eminent domain property acquisitions).
