If so, we are looking for an engaging, energetic, and customer-focused individual to work in our west suburban West Chicago branch approximately 40 miles outside of Chicago as a full-time Retail Banker. Spanish-speaking is a plus!

The Retail Banker is responsible for performing intermediate duties and support related to branch operational activities and financial services; processes all new account transactions; assisting customers in their selection of various accounts and financial services; cross-selling the Bank's products and services; opening, maintaining and closing of all account types; performing branch clerical duties; promoting business for the Bank by maintaining good customer relations and referring customers to appropriate staff for new services. The Retail Banker is also required to be fully knowledgeable and skilled in the areas of teller, vault, safe deposit, processing and boarding PRA lines of credit, discussing retail loan products and accepting credit applications, and is required to provide leadership, training and support to less experienced branch staff.

  • Provides support to all assigned areas of branch operations where service or assistance is needed, including new accounts, teller, safe deposit, vault teller and lending.
  • Assists consumer and business customers in their selection of various accounts, products and financial services; ensures cross-sell opportunities are presented by applying professional sales techniques.
  • Following bank policies and procedures, makes decisions regarding the opening of new accounts; assigns account numbers; completes forms requiring customer signature(s); performs required due diligence and risk assessment pursuant to the bank's Customer Identification Program; accepts initial deposits; prepares all documents and items pertaining to checking accounts, savings accounts and certificates of deposit for processing.
  • May represent the Bank in various community, civic and community reinvestment functions to further enhance the Bank's image and develop additional business.
  • Provides effective customer service by answering customer questions both in person and by telephone; investigates and corrects errors; and resolves problems or other issues.
  • Processes various loan transactions; consumer, commercial and real estate loan payments and advances; processes reports and callbacks.
  • Issues official checks, traveler's checks, and gift cards.
  • Performs safe deposit duties by opening accounts, controlling access, assisting customers and processing affiliated reports.
  • Receives and processes stop payment and hold orders.
  • Presents funds received from customer to teller for initial deposits; determines funds availability and obtains receipt for customer.
  • Processes wire transfers, credit card orders, address changes, check and deposit slip orders and endorsement stamp orders.
  • Records, files, updates information and sorts mail or reports as required.
  • Gathers data and processes various reports and callbacks.
  • Process PRA lies of credit and check guarantee/ debit card applications, card ordering and file maintenance.
  • Processes statements, renewal notices and interest payments for IRA and certificates of deposit accounts.
  • May assist in opening and closing the vault daily; assists in balancing vault currency and coin.
  • Performs official notary service duties.
Requirements:

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic math skills; calculate interest and balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; count currency, coin and negotiable instruments in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree (AA) or equivalent from a 4 year college or technical school; or 2 years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Retail banking experience preferred.
  • Work related experience should consist of a financial institution operations, sales or customer service background.
