As Rhode Island’s largest health system and private employer, Lifespan is dedicated to improving the health of the people within our communities. We are seeking a Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Newport Hospital in Newport, RI. In this role you will administer and evaluate a wide variety of therapeutic and diagnostic procedures to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of primary pulmonary disease and other medical problems. This is a night-shift position.

Responsibilities:

• Complete respiratory care therapeutic procedures, including Intermittent positive pressure breathing, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, nebulizer/aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry, breathing exercises and tracheal irrigation and aspiration
• Administer all inhalant medications
• Set-up and perform CPAP, Bi-Pap and non-invasive ventilation procedures
• Provide and monitor continuous oxygen and humification therapy and instructs patient on the use of the equipment
• Perform equipment check-out procedures prior to use to ensure proper function and adjust all ventilatory parameters, initiate and monitor mechanical ventilation and make adjustment to coordinate the ventilator with the patient
• Nebulize fluids, irrigate airway and perform deep tracheal suction and cuff care as needed
• Properly perform arterial blood gas analysis
• Document and report all medical findings and results

Qualifications:

• Rhode Island Respiratory Care Practitioner license (RCP) CRT; RRT preferred
• Associate degree from Cardio-Respiratory Care Program
• Demonstrated knowledge of respiratory care functions, procedures and equipment
• CPR certification
