Carpentry Entry-Level Estimator

Edon Construction Co., Inc. seeks motivated and engaged individuals ready to be part of a vibrant and fast-paced culture. The Carpentry Estimator will be mentored by Edon Management and be responsible for all aspects of preparing construction cost estimates. Responsibilities include plan take-offs, estimating, proposal preparation, negotiations, pre-construction coordination, client relations, and bid tracking.

If you are a self-motivated individual with sound judgement, strong communication/interpersonal skills, then we would love to hear from you! Ideally, you will possess knowledge in construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles to hit the ground running.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering information and requirements; setting priorities.
  • Performs a key role in project planning, budgeting and identification of resources needed.
  • Prepares Quantity Estimates off of Architectural Drawings; Proficient Plan reading skills a must
  • Resolves quantity discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Prepares special reports by collecting analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
  • Prepares project documents, material release schedules, client information, project schedules and other documentation to assure a steady stream of information to the Project Managers/Cost Estimators.
  • Perform detailed and accurate quantity takeoffs and obtain material pricing. Enter data into estimating spreadsheets.
  • Submit and follow up pre-bid requests for information.
  • Present bids to management, explaining estimate details and project specifics.
  • Maintain detailed and orderly project files.
  • Follow up on bid results.
  • Maintain past performance databases and spreadsheets.
  • Research data on industry standard labor production rates and material costs.
  • Maintain the bid board, bid tracking logs, customer history, and material management.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to the bidding process.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)

  • University degree or college diploma, Construction Degree a plus
  • Effective oral/written communication, troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze information, use documentation, reporting and Estimating skills
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities within established deadlines.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.
  • Effective time management and logical decision-making ability.
  • Capacity to handle pressure.
  • Strong focus on quality and teamwork
  • Ability to develop budgets and vendor relationships
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat. Experience with Sage Estimating and On Screen Takeoff software is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
