JOB TITLE: Resident Advisor for the CCCS Rockland Warming Center
REPORTS TO: Program Manager for the CCCS Rockland Warming Center
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Temporary/Seasonal
TIME COMMITMENT: Up to 6 Months November- April
Position Summary:
The Resident Advisor engages in direct communication with, and creates a positive therapeutic relationship, with guests at the Warming Center of Rockland County under the guidance of the Program Manager.
The overall goal is to help guests move from dependence towards self-sufficiency, including connecting guests to more permanent housing resources.
Essential Functions:
Be ready and available to work your assigned shifts.
Ensure daily census data is accurate.
Conduct pre-screening and intake of new guests, based on eligibility and rules and regulations.
Ensure that new guests have a cot, blanket, sheet, and pillow.
Explain rules and regulations to guests, including the consequences of breaking them.
Obtain signed copy of rules and regulations forms and release of information forms from each guest.
Monitor and engage guests.
Provide appropriate information and referrals to guests.
Maintain the grocery and supply inventory.
Provide laundry service for guest.
Read the shift log from the last shift prior to current shift and record notes in the shift log.
Participate in shift transition conversations and case review meetings as needed.
Carry a case management case load and maintain current and accurate guest files.
Serve meals to guests when volunteers are not available. When volunteers are available, ensure volunteers serve meals to guests.
Enter client information into HMIS database for new guests before the end of each shift.
Attend trainings as requested by the Program Manager, Catholic Charities Community Services of Rockland and/or Rockland County Department of Social Services.
Maintain professional boundaries with guests and treat guests with courtesy and respect.
Follow protocols for reporting incidents and making emergency referrals to law enforcement, the hospital, etc.
Attend weekly supervision with, and seek guidance from, the Program Manager.
Complete other duties as assigned by the Program Manager.

Qualifications: Minimum High School Diploma with related work experience (e.g. shelter casework; social services; ministry).
Languages Preferred (not required): Spanish; Creole

COVID-19 considerations:
Staff and guests are required to follow strict protocol including social distancing and masks. Updated HVAC system with UV lighting and HEPA filters are in place along with sanitizing equipment.

- Pomona, NY: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
