- Perform cell isolation and culture, preparation of media and tissue culture reagents, and maintenance and special manipulations of cell lines (e.g. transfection).
- Prepare and run biological and biochemical assays such as cytotoxicity assays, ELISA, PCR, and flow cytometry.
- Work with chemical analysis of novel small molecules and inorganic nanoparticles.
- Maintain the mouse colony, which includes rodent work, and related experimentation (dissections, injections of biological compounds, minor and major surgeries).
- Contribute to data analysis and manuscript preparation.
- Train students and new staff in lab techniques and procedures.
- Perform general lab maintenance, record-keeping, ordering, and inventory of laboratory supplies.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline.
- Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analyses.
- Skill in analyzing and evaluating data.
- Ability to effectively communicate.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning attained through experience required.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience required.
- Bachelor's degree in Cell and Molecular biology, biochemistry, or related Life Sciences field of study.
- Previous experience working with rodents and other experimental animals.
- Experience maintaining and servicing laboratory equipment.
- Demonstrated ability with laboratory organization, procedures ,and record keeping.
