West Virginia University Research Corporation is seeking applications for a (Part-time) Research Assistant with the Department of Behavioral Medicine & Psychiatry in Martinsburg, WV

About the Opportunity

WVU Health Sciences Center, Department of Behavioral Medicine, is seeking a part time Research Assistant to work on-site for a clinical trial study based out of WVU Medicine Berkeley Medical Center’s Emergency Department in Martinsburg, WV. The Research Assistant will work closely with the other study Research Assistant, the two on-site Co-Investigators, and the team at WVU Health Science Center’s Morgantown Campus to conduct participant recruitment, data collection, and study follow-up activities.

We are seeking a flexible, detail-oriented and well-organized candidate who has worked with people who use drugs and has experience with clinical research with marginalized populations.

What you’ll do:

• Identify patients presenting in the ED who are eligible for the study based on inclusion and exclusion criteria
• Interview patients and administer informed consent
• Conduct baseline screenings with participants
• Coordinate acquisition of study medication
• Collect and processing of biological samples
• Refer to MOUD treatment
• Conduct 7-day and 30-day follow up assessments
• Complete study documentation including: Case report forms, workbooks, assessments, source docs, monitoring logs, appointment schedules, etc.
• Monitor protocol deviations and adverse events

• Master's Degree in public health, social work, counseling, or other relevant field preferred; OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• One (1) year experience working with patients in a clinical or research setting;
• Experience conducting in-person and telephone interviews; knowledge of research methods and protocols preferred
• Excellent/strong oral communication and people skills.
• Highly self-motivated and independent.
• Organized and detail oriented.
• Able to work well with diverse personalities.
• Able to effectively, efficiently and independently work under pressure with competing demands and within a multi-disciplinary team with limited supervision.
