This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a new Product Stewardship & Compliance program and team in a supportive environment. Come join our Product Stewardship & Compliance Team to contribute to “Making the World a Better Home”.

The Hazard Communications Specialist is a key member of the SGNA Product Stewardship & Compliance Team. Serves as the primary SDS and labels Author to meet R&D and business needs. Ensures product label and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) compliance with regulatory, standard, and SG product stewardship requirements. Updates and maintains a SDS Archive and Repository system and related processes. Interacts with suppliers to obtain information in support of compliance and product stewardship.


Hazard Communication

  • Serve as primary author of new and existing product SDSs involving pure chemicals and mixtures for multiple jurisdictions and languages utilizing SDS authoring software
  • Author accurate and timely SDSs and labels to meet R&D and business needs, and regulatory and internal product stewardship requirements to meet or exceed metrics to ensure efficiency and utilization goals
  • Working knowledge of SDS and label authoring platforms.
  • Determine hazard classifications in accordance with the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS)
  • Obtain, evaluate and enter compositional, physical chemical, toxicological, environmental, and regulatory information in SDS authoring systems and generate documents according to established SOPs and workflow

Haz Com Support

  • Interact with suppliers to obtain composition information or discuss product stewardship issues as needed.
  • Update SDSs from vendors and third party customer requirements;
  • Support hazard communication needs of hazard assessments, and product stewardship assessments and reviews.
  • Collaborate with internal colleagues in Product Stewardship & Compliance, Toxicology and Industrial Hygiene, and further participate in training to provide quality deliverables and maintain Hazard Communication technical excellence;
  • Support hazard communications needs of manufacturing sites.
  • Support projects on SDS authoring efficiency efforts including Archive and repository management;
  • Stay abreast of country and state-specific legislation and ensure that the company’s manufactured products, formulations, and labeling reflect current regulatory requirements.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

What do you bring? (Max 4,000 characters)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, industrial hygiene toxicology, biology or related field required.
  • 3+ years’ experience using Global GHS requirements as adopted by North America, South America, EU Asia Pacific including USDOL OSHA Hazard Communication Standard 2012(29 CFR 1910.1200), WHMIS 2015, EU CPL required.
  • Experience with WERCS/3E Authoring Software highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with standard office software, such as MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required.
  • Experience with SDS authoring system or similar program preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, being able to communicate effectively with global business and R&D teams required.
  • Self-motivated and able to handle tasks with minimal supervision required.

Sound decision making and organizational skills required.
