Klickitat Valley Health is searching for two full-time Registered Nurses to join the Emergency Services department. This position offers 3-12 hour night shifts, 36 hours a week.
KVH is offering a $8,000.00 Sign-on Bonus.

Klickitat Valley Health is a rural, critical-access hospital located in scenic Goldendale, Washington only two hours from Portland along the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge. KVH offers emergency and acute inpatient care and a full scope of ancillary services including General Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, PT / OT, Behavioral Health, Dental, Pain Management and Hospice. The hospital also owns a busy, well-established primary clinic that is located on hospital campus. Inpatient care is managed by 24/7 Hospitalist staff. KVH employs over 300 staff.

The Emergency Department RN provides direct and indirect nursing care in a medical-surgical setting as defined by the Standards and Scope of Practice for the Registered Nurse {Nursing Practice Act (RCW 18.79.010-18.79.902)}. The RN is an important member of the healthcare team and works collaboratively with the other members of the care team to provide optimal outcomes for our patients in a compassionate, professional, ethical, and knowledgeable fashion. The RN demonstrates excellence in customer service during interactions with employees, managers/supervisors, providers, patients and patient family members, etc. The role of the RN includes, but is not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients’ status, plan of care and goal achievement. The RN will be oriented and float to other departments as necessary. The RN is aware of the potential exposure to internal and external hazardous materials, including but not limited to: blood and blood borne pathogens, infectious/communicable diseases and potential physical injury while caring for patients. Maintains a safe and clean environment for the care of the patient.
Education / Licensure:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an active/current RN license in Washington State.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS. TNCC required within six (6) months of hire.
  • Basic computer knowledge required.

Experience:

  • Six (6) months nursing experience preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, ability to make good decisions, listen and accept advice from others, demonstrate maturity and good judgement and the ability to work with regular supervision.
  • Demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, principles and practice in order to holistically care for the patient.
  • Perform various sensory requirements such as: vision, speech, smell, touch, manual dexterity, fine motor skills and hearing in order to assess and treat the patient accurately.
  • Promote/develop/deliver excellent customer service to both internal (patients and staff) and external customers (visitors and vendors).
  • Demonstrate positive and effective interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, patients, families, physicians, volunteers and the community.
  • Work productively and cohesively within a team and resolve conflict/differences in a positive manner.
  • Work in a stressful, fast-paced/demanding environment and take appropriate action to ensure quality of patient care, and ability to cope with both physical and emotional demands of the job.
  • Maintain a calm and composed manner in emergency/stressful situations, taking appropriate action as necessary.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and high degree of accuracy; risk of error could result in significant harm or loss.
  • Experience with using everyday tools (e.g., email, data retrieval, voicemail, and internet/intranet) as well as ability to effectively utilize an electronic medical record, as well as use/handle all medical equipment utilized in the care of the patient.
  • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills with ability to anticipate tasks and prioritize assignments.
  • Participate in quality review (QR) and performance improvement (PI) processes.
  • Adaptability is essential to manage the needs of a department with unpredictable volume and limited staff.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
