Our first district, KIPP Academy Lynn Charter School, is based in Lynn, MA. Our second district, KIPP Academy Boston Charter School, is based in Mattapan, MA.

Each district is housed on one or more campuses, which we use to refer to different grade spans, for example, elementary grades, middle school grades, or high school grades.In Lynn, KIPP Academy Lynn Elementary (serving grades K-4), KIPP Academy Lynn Middle (serving grades 5-8), and KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate (serving grades 9-12), are all under our Lynn charter. Admission to any grade in the Lynn district is admission to all remaining grades in the Lynn district K-12. 66% of our students in Lynn are Hispanic, 23% are African American and 11% are other races/ethnicities.In Boston, KIPP Academy Boston Elementary (serving grades K-4), and KIPP Academy Boston (serving grades 5-8), are both under our Boston charter. Admission to any grade in the Boston district is admission to all remaining grades in the Boston district, K-8.

KIPP public charter schools are given more academic and budgetary flexibility than traditional public schools, and in exchange commit to deliver high-quality academic results for students.Job DescriptionManaging Director of AcademicsKIPP MAs Managing Director of Academics (may become MD of Elementary Academics) is responsible for ensuring our academic bar of excellence aligns with and leads to postsecondary success that allows every student to create the future they want for themselves and their communities.

The MD of Academics will be responsible for vision-setting and strategically planning a vision for KIPP MA schools that amplifies our childrens potential in creating a school experience that affirms, values, and challenges students each day. The MD of Academics will also implement, assess, and continually approve the strategic plan and vision and do whatever it takes to support educators in achieving that vision.Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the MD of Academics will be part of the Regional Office and work closely with our Managing Director of Secondary Academics (title may shift) and Managing Director of Student Supports to ensure that all KIPP MA schools are aligned in mission, vision, curriculum, and instructional strategies and practices. Additionally, the MD will be responsible for training, coaching, and developing several Directors of Academics as part of our Teaching and Learning team.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESAcademic Vision and StrategySet and communicate a vision for academic excellence aligned to secondary and postsecondary success with the help of key stakeholders, the Executive Director, the MD of Secondary Academics, MD of Student Supports, and the Teaching and Learning TeamDefine the academic strategic plan by leading the academic planning process including naming region-wide academic goals and priorities, identifying key performance indicators, and creating a system for monitoring and evaluating performance against goalsSupport the Teaching and Learning Team in building out short and long term strategies to achieve KIPP MAs academic vision and provide the right tools, coaching, and development to faculty and leaders to drive long-term transformative outcomes for studentsEnsure that the Teaching and Learning Team, school leaders, and educators can meet the goals and priorities by developing and/or providing the enabling tools, structures, and systems necessary to drive continuous improvement aligned to academic visionEvaluate and ensure that our elementary schools curriculum enables us to meet the academic bar of excellence and meet the obligations of state guidelinesIn partnership with the Director of Data, build and maintain a system for region-wide visualization of student data including, but not limited to, attendance, behavior, and assessment dataUse a variety of methods to consistently review student performance and teacher effectiveness data, support school leaders to do the same, and respond swiftly to support or re-adjustDevelop a vision for potential expansion to Pre-K that vertically aligns to the elementary experience Leadership and ManagementReport to and work with the Chief Academic Officer, who is part of the Executive Leadership Team, by engaging in vision and strategic planning, goal setting, and assessment of the regionMake recommendations to the Chief Academic Officer about system-wide goals, monitoring and analyzing data and progressBuild and manage a high-functioning, cohesive, effective team of individuals as part of the Teaching and Learning Team who provide academic expertise and support to elementary educatorsProvide leadership, development, coaching, feedback, and support to each elementary Director of Academics to ensure they are on track to meet their goalsEvaluate performance of elementary Director of AcademicsAnalyze programming across the region to ensure a system of supports to meet the needs of all students, including special populationsTraining and DevelopmentPlan and execute on the delivery of summer and weekly professional development for teachers and leaders, including designing content, lessons, and unit plans, and ensuring high quality delivery of professional development aligned to the academic visionAssist leadership with planning and execution of school leadership meetings to ensure alignment with academic vision and prioritiesBuild and support a system for improving teacher and leader content knowledge and pedagogy through a variety of structures, including but not limited to content teams, co-observations, etc.Partner with Managing Director of Recruitment & Retention to attract, develop, and retain school educators and emerging school leadersRegional ResponsibilitiesEmbody KIPP MAs Code of Conduct by acting with integrity, leading with humanity, centering self-awareness and critical consciousness, taking personal responsibility, and engaging productivelyParticipate and engage in regional professional development and community events as requiredKIPP MA staff are supported in their demanding work by experienced and dedicated leadership and staff who have themselves proven successful in their role.
