Regional Clinical Educator/Staff Development Director – Skilled Nursing


This position is primarily responsible for encouraging the professional growth of all employees through education and training. The Clinical Educator will ensure current training and in-service education is completed through ongoing education by conducting on-site education and staff improvement training sessions, ensuring issues surrounding compliance are satisfied. This role also teaches CNA, Med Aide, and CPR courses across the division. Additional responsibilities include skills fairs, competencies, assisting with mock surveys, plan of correction training needs, and back up to the Regional Nurse Consultant.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides orientation for all nursing personnel according to state, federal and facility guidelines.
  • Provides in-service orientation for all nursing and facility personnel to include federal and state mandated education.
  • Responsible for yearly nursing staff competence assessment and record keeping.
  • Responsible for facility yearly in-service calendar.
  • Participates in all aspects of performance improvement activities including risk management.
  • Creates, reviews, or revises all facility policies and procedures in accordance with state, or federal guidelines as well as research-based practice.
  • Monitors and oversees compliance of nursing staff with all facility policies and procedures to ensure safe, effective nursing care for all residents.
    Directing and implementing nursing service educational programs.
  • Monitor the eLearning platform and tracking compliance.
  • Integrate current research and evidence-based practice into educational programs and practice.
  • Provide skills competency orientation and ongoing training of staff.
  • Identifying needs for an in-service through staff evaluation residents needs, quality assurance reports, and regulatory expectations.


JOB QUALIFICATIONS

South Dakota state RN licensure with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in long term care.

One year experience with nursing education or patient teaching responsibilities or equivalent education

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Director of Nursing experience in long term care is preferred
  • Previous SDC/Educator role is preferred.
  • Regional Nurse Consultant experience is preferred.
  • Regulatory/Survey experience is preferred.
  • Current professional licensure in the State of South Dakota.
  • Previous experience in teaching, curriculum development, and instruction is desired.
  • Experience with an E-learning platform is preferred.
  • Must be willing to travel 80%, as this position will manage education across a multi-state division.
