Job Summary (Purpose)

The Director manages all facets of an assigned region with accountability for safety, customer experience, financial performance and expenses, operational efficiencies, as well as staff and asset management. Travels daily among area service areas to observe the work activities, inspect the facility and the operation, and to coach managers and employees on expected standards and behaviors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Safety Management

  • Creates a safety-first culture by modeling the correct behaviors and programs for the region and holds the team accountable through reinforced actions that meet key performance indicators and measurements.
  • Ensures that all safety related requirements such as policies, programs, compliance with federal, state, and local authorities are maintained.
  • Prioritizes training to ensure all employees have the knowledge, tools, and resources to safety complete daily job duties and responsibilities.

Customer Experience

  • Demonstrates exceptional business acumen and understands client perspectives to help problem solve and improve customer experiences.
  • Partners with inside and outside sales teams to drive business growth for the region.
  • Manages community relations activities including those involving regulatory agencies, officials, and community leaders.
  • Drives team performance in meeting customer demands through effective installs and deliveries, equipment ordering, and in-stock levels of tanks.

Operational Efficiency

  • Drives a culture of performance and results by leading the team in meeting key performance indicators, utilizing various tools and data to ensure an efficient, productive and profitable operation in order to optimize personnel, vehicle utilization and expenses.
  • Meets with territory managers and teams to understand performance and identifies solutions to complete work in more effective and efficient ways.
  • Supports and leads business transformation efforts and acts as a change leader to help the organization adapt to new ways of working.
  • Partners with various departments to understand customer demand forecasts against labor usage and proactively creates workforce plans to address gaps.
  • Holds the team accountable for effective workforce plans that drive productivity and financial efficiencies.

Team Management

  • Creates a positive work environment for employees and is focused on implementing programs that boost employee morale, engagement, and retention.
  • Leads multiple teams and priorities developing team members for professional growth.
  • Maintains critical eye for talent and is a key leader in assessing and onboarding talent in the region.

Operating Expenses and Financial Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all controllable aspects of the P&L performance for the assigned areas.
  • Proactive involvement in purchasing activities and expenditures for the region.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to analyze business reports, and to interpret performance metrics.
  • Ability to create and execute a business plan; is able to produce effective business communications for managers, employees, and customers.
  • Is able to read and understand contracts, leases, agreements for service, and vendor requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, coaching and development skills.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma required; college degree strongly preferred.
  • Five-seven years in a management position is required, multi-unit experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Working Conditions:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to hazardous or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and flammable materials. The employee will be working in both office and external work environments.
