General Description

Pasco County Planning & Development is currently seeking a Records Technician II. This position involves advanced clerical work, which involves moderately complex work methods and problems. Maintains specialized office asset and contract records.


Essential Job Functions

Performs specialized record maintenance and retention duties requiring technical and organizational knowledge. Files and retrieves files on and off site, including retrieval of reports and records from a personal computer. Maintains records and provides daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly reports. Maintains permanent basic plan records for future inspection. Enters file information into the computer. Handles requests for information in person or over the telephone. Refers more difficult problems requiring policy decision to supervisors or other designated persons or departments. Operates office equipment such as personal computer and related software, copy machine, and large Blueprint high-speed scanner printer when necessary. Duties require work to be done with a minimum of supervision. Position requires lifting, moving, pushing, and pulling heavy objects weighing up to 40lbs. Performs related work as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Records Maintenance.
  • Knowledge of construction and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of business English, spelling, and mathematics.
  • Knowledge of data entry equipment.
  • Knowledge of the basic maintenance of construction process.
  • Ability to effectively search, retrieve and maintain complex records and files.
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to learn the procedures and operations of the unit to which assigned.
  • Ability to meet and deal effectively with employees, vendors, and the general public.
  • Ability to use tact in resolving work problems.
  • Ability to maintain complex records and prepare reports.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and related software.

Minimum Requirements

PHYSICAL SKILLS: Ability to lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and also push or pull heavy objects. May use a handling device (dolly, cart, etc.) or work with another team member to lift and/or move excessively heavy objects. Ability to communicate effectively using verbal, written and visual communication. Requires standing, stooping, and bending.

** Physical Skills for Development Services Administration Position are extremely physical requiring a continuous routine of pulling out heavy pocket folders and replacing same on high shelving.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Six (6) months of clerical/records retention experience. Operation of a personal computer is required.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS OR REGISTRATIONS: Must possess a valid Florida driver's license.
