Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Exempt position

Job Summary

The Institute for Community Justice is a comprehensive re-entry program offering education, empowerment and skills building programming and services for the communities most impacted by the mass incarceration. The Re-entry Center Manager for Philadelphia FIGHT's Institute for Community Justice is responsible for oversight of ICJ's Re-entry Center. This position is responsible for overall operations of Reentry Drop-In Center programming and services, maintenance of Re-entry Center data and information, and support for the general operations of ICJ.

Tasks and Responsibilities

Management of ICJ's Reentry Center

  • Manage and oversee Re-entry Center services, including direct supervision of staff, volunteers and interns.
  • Develop and manage standards and protocols for service delivery within the Reentry Center.
  • Manage triage and flow of case management service delivery, including walk in visits, crisis management, and appropriate referral streams.
  • Facilitate growth and expansion of Reentry Services, including development of population specific services and programming to respond to the needs of participants.
  • Develop referral relationships with collaborating and partner service providers.
  • Coordinate service delivery and collaboration between ICJ case management services and all clinics at Philadelphia FIGHT.
  • Problem solve day-to-day Re-entry Center issues.
  • Maximize impact and efficiency of Reentry Center programming through coordination with ICJ staff.
  • Promote ICJ's Re-entry Center and programs throughout the community, including within criminal justice settings such as probation/parole, public defenders, courts and prisons/jails.
  • Support outreach activities with staff to recruit participants.
  • Ensure that the Re-entry Center has all necessary amenities, supplies, etc., to make it a safe, welcoming space for participants.
  • Collaborate with outside agencies and facilitators to bring in relevant workshops to the ICJ participants and staff.
  • Create and develop new programming and daily groups for the Reentry Center.
  • Maintain updated resource database and oversee process for external referrals, including establishing and developing relationships with community providers and criminal justice entities.
  • Facilitate groups in the Re-entry Center when needed.
  • Seek grants that are in alignment with the mission of ICJ
  • Supervises staff, which includes conducting regular supervision, meetings, training, scheduling, participating in hiring and coaching, processing payroll, completing personnel documentation, completing employee performance evaluations according to schedule, and monitoring the completion, accuracy, and submission of all required paperwork submitted by staff.
  • Offer crisis intervention, de-escalation, conflict resolution, and apply behavioral agreements using a restorative justice approach.
  • Represent ICJ as a thought partner when partnering with agencies and collaborative initiatives.


Record Keeping

  • Support management and maintenance of the database of Re-entry Center participants.
  • Support management and maintenance of paper and digital files for Re-entry Center participants, ensuring HIPAA compliance and consistent collection of data and intake paperwork.
  • Update and maintain monthly referral tracking log.

Supervision

  • Provide supervision for all Re-entry Center staff.


Ongoing Requirements

  • Coordinate regular Re-entry Center staff meetings.
  • Attend programmatic FIGHT meetings.
  • Meet weekly with ICJ Director for supervision.
  • Meet weekly with Reentry Staff to provide supervision
  • Attend weekly ICJ all staff meeting.
  • Support Prison Summit planning and participate in all Prison Summit related programming
  • Other duties, as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.


Minimum Requirements

  • Lived experience of incarceration desired.
  • Understands principles and practices of restorative justice approach to the criminal justice system.
  • At least two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Experience working with individuals in crisis
  • Demonstrated respect for, experience with and willingness to work with a diverse workforce and participant population.
  • Professional and discreet demeanor with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and use of tact, respect, discretion and judgement.
  • Experience working in integrated service teams using participant-centered, trauma-informed, harm-reduction approaches.
  • Knowledge of community resources and methods of accessibility.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a team approach, and the ability to communicate both orally and in writing are essential.
  • The ability to quickly assess and respond to a variety of situations, including medical emergencies, conflict resolution and intervention, and other participant emergencies.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes as this program responds to lessons learned and emerging needs.
  • Familiarity with program development and coordination of special initiatives.
  • Must have experience working with current and prior incarcerated persons
  • Knowledgeable of local resources and services.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and essential office computer applications.
  • Sensitive to cultural, economic, gender, and sexual orientation differences.
  • Demonstrated experience working with high-risk populations; excellent communications, interpersonal skills and collaborative skills; ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting; flexible, self-motivated, organized, able to work well under pressure; dedicated to social justice; computer literacy required.


Physical Demands

  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs and pushing of 5-20 lbs
  • Sitting approximately 80% of the time
  • Normal accessibility and mobility required
  • Ability to work at a computer screen for long periods of time
