Job Summary of the Radiology Technologist

Responsible for performing all diagnostic radiological procedures in a timely manner. Performs procedures according to physician’s orders. As a member of the care team, the Radiology Technologist is responsible for working collaboratively with other members to assure the safe and accurate delivery of patient care. In addition, the Radiology Technologist must be able and willing to cross-train into other appropriate modalities. Under the direction of the Laboratory department, all modalities will be responsible in assisting with the collection of patient specimen(s), the proper labeling of that specimen(s) and the safe delivery to the lab department. Their other duties will include quality control, quality improvement, and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities of the Radiology Technologist

• Perform radiological procedures in a timely manner; document required information and communicate to primary physician and direct care staff pertinent information.
• Coordinate and assist the care of patients assigned in collaboration with other radiology technologists, physicians, nurses and allied health staff.
• Perform Point of Care procedures in a timely manner according to established policy and procedure. Document required information and complies with all Point of Care quality control standards.
• Actively participate in the Performance Improvement and Utilization Review programs.
• Help provide staff to other areas of the hospital when needed.

Qualifications of the Radiology Technologist

EDUCATION:

• Associate’s Degree majoring in Radiologic Science or Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.

EXPERIENCE:

• Entry-level graduate Radiologic technologist will be accepted depending shift and technical responsibility of the shift
• Preferred: At least one year of experience as a Radiology Technologist. Interventional procedure experience a plus!

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Licensed by Texas Department of State Health Services as a Medical Radiologic Technologist
• Registered in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - ARRT (R)
• BLS required per St. David’s HealthCare policy
• This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).
