Quality Engineer Posting
Responsible for the compliance of the Quality Management System to applicable standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001, QMS policies, etc.), to customer requirements, and to internal standards. Responsible for assuring consistent quality of production by developing and enforcing effective process inspection techniques, validating processes, and maintaining clear documentation.
- Understand and maintain the requirements of IATF 16949 and ISO
9001 and communicate them within the company. Drive the implementation of practices and procedures to ensure that company maintains compliance with these standards.
- Supports all aspects of compliance and continuous improvement programs through quality audits.
- Leads & coordinates APQP activities with operations and engineering.
- Communicate clearly and directly with employees concerning quality performance expectations, productivity, continuous improvement and accountability.
- Interact with customers to ensure that customer requirements are understood and are met and resolve any customer complaints.
- Collect and analyze production data for quality metric tracking.
- Utilize root cause corrective action tools to assist production with problem resolution.
- Work with suppliers to ensure that company quality requirements are met.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Ideally, we are looking for candidates who have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 to 5 years of quality control experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience with metal fabrication, welding, and assembly along with experience with quality improvement tools (Lean Six Sigma, Statistical Process Control and
Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) is also preferred. Since you will part of a team in this role, you will need to be a solid communicator with excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop and motivate a team.
- 4-year technical degree in engineering or related field
- ASQ, 6-Sigma or Lean certification
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 or IATF 16949
- Experience with basic measurement tools (calipers, micrometers,
CMMs)
- Understanding of SPC
- Understanding of APQP process
- Experience with automotive PPAP’s (Process Flow Diagram, PFMEA,
Control Plan)
- Experience developing work instructions or inspection plans
- Experience using/programming CMM machines (PC-DMIS preferred)
- Lead/Internal process auditing experience (ISO/IATF)
- Understanding of structured problem solving (8D, DMAIC, 5-Why)
- Experience interacting with customers and handling complaints
- Experience dealing with supplier issues
- Able to routinely interact, in a professional manner, with other company departments
- Proficient in MS-Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
