Hiring QC Inspector I NOW! / Huntsville, AL. Pay starts at $20.28hr.

$3,000 sign on bonus! (day include $.50 differential)

At the BASF Huntsville Plant, we make the chemistry and technology used in vehicle catalytic convertors and other environmental products. As part of our team, employees help us conceive, design, implement and validate new equipment, technologies and processes to help make our world's environment cleaner. Our Quality Control Department plays a vital role in the success of our plant. This position contributes by performing physical and visual inspections or testing on incoming raw materials, in-process audits, and final products. This position also evaluates compliance with appropriate blueprints and specifications and provides in plant technical support in terms of product/process quality, including the use of statistical process control techniques.


During your shift as a Hiring QC Inspector you will…

  • Verify production lot tickets to customer requirements.

  • Conduct Product Auditing

  • Interpret customer requirements for QC approval.

  • Audit production parts on line prior to packaging.

  • Pull production for sample testing.

  • Conduct substrate related testing based on COA.

  • Write non-conformances for defects founds.

  • Verify lot quantity at end of lot.

  • Close out lot tickets after receiving production paperwork.

  • Demonstrated ability to review incoming raw materials relative to BASF specifications -Preferred.

  • Write raw-material/substrates non-conformances for defects found. Work with Logistics on waiver submissions.

  • Audit shipping paperwork and warehouse staged material ensure lot ready for shipment. -Preferred

  • Performs lot sampling including physical testing and visual testing.

  • Performs incoming, in-processing, and final shipping inspections per customer specifications.

  • Pulls representative samples based on established and approved sampling plans.

  • Create and maintain files for inspection reports, nonconforming materials reports, product waivers, and corrective action reports.

  • Serves as a contact for internal auditing process and help develop corrective actions related to team quality systems.

  • Writes, reads and understands technical documentation including policies, procedures, specifications and drawings.

  • Fully participates in all team activities including all team meetings, corrective actions, continuous improvement, problem solving, statistical evaluations and special projects.

  • Utilizes personal skills and technical abilities to contribute to team and process performance as measured by team and process metrics.

  • Set ups, plots and maintains basic SPC charts as required by customers.

  • Accurately records and reports data from analysis.

  • Coordinates work activities through use of processing and shipping forecasts.

  • Performs all work activities using established safe work practices and follow all plant safety rules.

  • Maintains a clean working environment.

Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent

Qualifications

If you…

  • Earned a HS Diploma with 2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing quality product inspection environment.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in product quality inspection in addition to at least 6 months of demonstrated proficiency in one additional Quality Inspection core competency areas (Raw material/Substrate COA review and release, Warehouse shipment auditing, Site certificate of analysis generation)

  • Must demonstrate ability to be self-directed working with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and initiate work projects and/or tasks while working on multiple tasks

  • Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills

  • Demonstrates the ability to keep the balance of work flowing in the absence of the manger

  • May require the ability to lead and/or influence others

    Work environment/Physical demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; as well as talk and hear.

  • The employee is regularly required to document test results via hand written and keyboard entries.

  • The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25pounds. Any part that weights more than 25 pounds needs to be lifted by a manipulator or the buddy system.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • May be required to work mandatory overtime and/or twelve hour shifts.

  • The use of personal protection equipment is required such as hearing protection, safety glasses and protective gloves.
