Independence Plus is rapidly expanding in all our service areas. We are now hiring a full-time Quality Assurance Nurse to work out of our Oak Brook, IL (DuPage County) office. Full benefits available; PTO, medical, dental, vision coverage and 401K company match.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Quality Assurance Nurse reviews electronic clinical documentation, recommends corrections, and coordinates with a multidisciplinary team to maintain quality patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures completion of all Medicare, State, and accreditation documentation (e.g., visit notes, flowsheets, Treatment Records, Medication Administration Records, logs, and all required OASIS forms)
- Daily review of electronic documentation in the office
- Contacts and meets with field nurses to ensure timely compliance with required documentation and corrections
- Ensures there are processes and detailed reports in place to monitor, track and report ongoing quality indicators, reviews, and thresholds
- Reviews the individual patient’s care, medications, treatments, procedures, and policies and procedures in order to review the Plan of Care (485) and related documentation, and determine if documented care is administered in a way that demonstrates adherence to physician orders, constitutes skilled care, and follows Company Policies and Procedures
- Collaborates and educates direct care field staff, respiratory therapists, education, and management to ensure quality documentation meets legal and regulatory requirements
- Prepares for audits including conducting internal mock audits as needed
- Researches and recommends improvements in quality assurance and general procedures to ensure quality patient outcomes
- Maintains updated knowledge related to home care safety and infection control standards
- Maintains patient and Independence Plus confidentiality at all times
- Reports to Director of Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement
- Complies with all company, state, federal, and accreditation policies and procedures
- Performs additional tasks and duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge and experience with Medicare Home Health rules and regulations required
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Illinois nursing license, RN preferred
- If requested, willingness and ability to be licensed as a nurse in other states
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Experience demonstrating ability to work well with minimal supervision and on a team
- Proficiency with electronic medical records, competency with KanTime preferred
