Description
Summary:
The Quality Coordinator will be responsible for assisting the Quality Assurance Supervisor and Manager in daily assigned duties. Communicate all deficiencies with management and plant personnel. A driver of Quality, Safety, and Efficiency within the plant.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the creation of standard operating procedures and production paperwork
  • Ownership of the Document Control System and maintaining all documents, to include tracking of procedure training
  • Assist in Food Safety and Quality Training as directed by the Quality Assurance Manager.


  • Update and create individual product specifications for all finished products.
  • Ensure new and changing raw materials and finished goods are appropriately documented, assisting in maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.
  • Handle customer requests for product evaluation and sampling.


  • Assist in the completion of internal facility audits (GMP, BGP, etc.) and track corrective actions for completion.

  • Assist with external audits and coordinating required follow-up actions.
  • Track all quality holds, prepare deviation paperwork, and other documents for the QA Manager.
  • Track sanitation compliance and assist with validations
  • Assist in the evaluation and resolution of customer product quality issues. Evaluate data and provide feedback to the QA Manager.
  • Review incoming materials for release and manage non-conformance system
  • Report directly all quality related activities to the QA Supervisor or Manager and assist in quality projects
  • Serve as back up lab technician
  • Follow company GMP’s (Good Manufacturing Practices) and all other quality programs.
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
  • Responsible for ensuring work area is clean and organized.
  • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision and as a member of a team.
  • Strictly adhere to all Safety policies.
  • Committed to ensuring that the products produced meet all food safety and quality requirements.
  • Must follow all Safety procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.



Key Accountabilities:
Safety
  • Follows all plant safety rules
  • Reports all accidents to the production supervisor
  • Serves an active role in the plant safety program by attending safety meetings, participating in monthly safety inspections and reporting any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or Production Supervisor.

Quality:
  • Adheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelines
  • Follows SOP’s to do required tests necessary for checking products prior to processing, after processing, and prior to ship outs
  • Responsible for compliance with the HACCP program
  • Must adhere to and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  • Responsible for accurate documentation

Housekeeping
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Cooperates with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors

Communications
  • As a member of the Quality team, insures that effective shift communication and teamwork with the other operators occurs each scheduled shift
  • Maintains effective communication with members of the support group

Teamwork and Training
  • Promotes and contributes to the development of teamwork among production team members
  • Assist in coaching and training employees as requested by the management team

Personal Development
  • Continuous improvement of knowledge of the Aseptic batching, processing and filling, and DE process

Qualifications

Qualifications

Education

Any combination of experience and education that provides the required knowledge, such as:

BS/BA degree in Biology, Chemistry, Food Science/Food Technology or related field

Experience

2 years’ experience in a production or manufacturing environment preferred

GFSI experience preferred


Knowledge and Skills

Must possess the knowledge and understanding of basic math skills including weight calculations, averages and percentages. Must be able to read and write in English.

Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel, have working knowledge in PowerPoint. Access knowledge a plus.

Travel Requirements

None as part of normal job requirements; but travel may occur per management due to training needs.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

70% of work is performed in an office setting

30% of work is performed in a manufacturing/lab environment

Ability to sit, stand and bend

Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.
