We're looking for:

The Public Relations & Community Manager is responsible for activating the brand within the communities where Bunkhouse properties live, in addition to working with outsourced PR agencies, pitching to local outlets, and executing on public facing needs. This role includes thinking outside the box, coming up with creative solutions/ideas and generating brand awareness locally, nationally and universally.

The person having this position must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflict, and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. This role must develop and maintain the company’s culture, values and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors and partners.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • College degree in Public Relations, Marketing or related field
  • 3+ years working in Public Relations, preferably in Austin
  • Hotel and/or Food & Beverage experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and graphic communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize, plan and organize
  • Be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment
  • Provide clear directions and communication
  • Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Guest-service oriented
  • Proactive initiative and flexibility
  • Punctual; professional appearance at all times

Job Requirements:

  • Liaise between the Bunkhouse Marketing/Brand team and outsourced PR agency by sending information about upcoming programming, photography, F+B specials, community engagement efforts, etc. for all operating and upcoming projects
  • Contribute creative brand activation ideas and stay up to date on industry trends
  • Research and identify press opportunities and pitch local community placements for all hotels and F+B outlets
  • Organize local efforts and news segments to ensure Bunkhouse properties are top of mind for existing and potential customers
  • Create guests lists, alongside PR agency and marketing team for upcoming opening and private event needs
  • Manage press inquiries and delegate accordingly
  • Create press fact sheets and releases alongside outsourced PR agency
  • Develop a network of local news, press, industry and promotional contacts
  • Assist with advertising opportunities
  • Plan and manage local influencer and press events
  • Always ensure open lines of communication with all departments and upper management via email, Basecamp, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the hotel are met.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with all employees and guests
  • Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary
  • Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos and verbal instruction
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
  • Maintain an increased awareness of safety issues throughout the property

Based upon fluctuating demands of the operation and to exceed customer expectations, it may be necessary to perform a multitude of different functions not specifically related to this position. This person may be expected to perform other tasks and duties as needed or as directed. Furthermore, employee responsibilities and job descriptions are subject to review and revision.

Working Conditions/Environment:

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, typical of a hotel/restaurant/office setting
  • The person in this position may have to lift/carry up to fifty (50) pounds on a daily basis; anything over fifty (50) pounds is considered a minimum two (2) person lift
  • The person having this position may have to remain stationary for one (1) hour, move about/traverse property spaces, push, kneel, bend, balance, squat, reach and stretch for up to eight (8) hours per day
