Philly AIDS Thrift, a nonprofit thrift store that benefits over 30 HIV/AIDS Non-Profit Organizations, is hiring a Part-Time Housewares Processor.

Job Summary:

MUST BE AVAILABLE ON MONDAYS AND FRIDAYS (11pm-8pm).

Part-Time Position with opportunities for additional hours.

The employee will assist in the intake, sorting, processing, and pricing of all non-clothing donations to the store, including housewares, bric-a-brac, furniture, art, media (books, records, DVDs, etc.), and various other items.

The employee will perform all manner of tasks involved in retail operations as needed. Including, but not limited to, operating the cash register, store cleaning and upkeep, stocking shelves, maintaining store inventory, researching higher-priced items, and other routine tasks as required.

The employee will assist in the training and supervision of volunteers to the store, directing them to tasks and instructing them on in-store procedures;

As a representative of the store, the employee will greet and assist all donors, customers, and volunteers courteously and maintain professional relationships with all other store employees.

Primary job responsibilities include:

- Greeting and attending to donors and customers

- Sorting through donated items

- Researching and assigning appropriate resale prices to items being sold

- Tagging and arranging merchandise in the store

- Monitoring sales floors to make sure they are neat and adequately filled

- Training and delegating tasks to individual volunteers as well as larger groups.

Qualifications:

- Have knowledge of current/resale pricing of household and kitchen items, media, electronics, furniture, and collectibles.

- Being able to allocate the appropriate price ranges and identify the difference between everyday items from high-end, designer, vintage, midcentury, and antiques (i.e., Ikea, William Sonoma, West Elm, Waterford, Dollar Store, Versace, CB2, Lenox, Target)

- Experience working in retail

- Familiarity with books, both new and old, is a plus

- Previous experience working in a thrift store/warehouse in a nonprofit setting is also a plus

- As well as, a sense of creativity, and a passion for our mission!

The Donation Processor should possess the following skills:
- Organized, self-motivated, and amicable
- Professional Communication Skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be able to work with diverse individuals and personalities
- Ability to identify antiques, vintage, and other high-priced brands
- Ability to lift to 50 lbs.

Hourly wage dependent on experience. Looking to hire ASAP.
