JOB SUMMARY

This position is part-time (up to 10 hours per pay period - 1st to 15th and 16th to last day of month) onsite at Resource & Crisis Center of Galveston County, Inc. (RCCGC) campus office locations in Galveston, TX and League City, TX. Patients will include residential and nonresidential adults and children who are survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or child abuse.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provides direct psychiatric care services related to diagnosis and treatment of patients experiencing trauma related to domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
• Performs psychiatric evaluations and treatment of patients with problems of personality, emotional adjustment, or mental illness.
• Prescribes medications as deemed necessary for the treatment of mental illnesses, following applicable federal law.
• Develops a comprehensive treatment plan for a wide range of abnormal behaviors and presents the treatment plan to the multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensures that appropriate psychiatric health care is accessible and provided in a timely fashion.
• Evaluates and monitors patient records and makes recommendations as needed.
• Develops the Psychiatric program, processes and protocols with RCCGC leadership.
• If applicable, documents necessary information within the RCCGC’s electronic database for each patient.
• Responds in a timely manner to occasional emails, texts, and/or phone calls outside of regular clinic hours that pertain to urgent matters of patient care.
• Abides by all security protocols required by RCCGC.
• Must uphold the Code of Ethics of their professional licensing entity.
• Must complete the minimum hours of continuing education to maintain professional license.
• Must maintain good standing with professional licensing board.
• Must demonstrate cultural competency and sensitivity to all populations served.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.

WORK SCHEDULE

Psychiatric counseling and psychiatric evaluations of designated individuals at the Resource & Crisis Center of Galveston County, Inc. location in Galveston, TX and League City, TX during designated weekly clinic hours. A minimum of ninety (90) minutes of clinic time for new Patients and a minimum of thirty (30) minutes of clinic time for Patients previously seen by the Part-Time Psychiatrist.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to operate various office machines and/or equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to speak and hear clearly. The employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift approximately 20 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

This position reports to the Manager of Therapeutic Services, under the direction of the Director of Intervention Services, with extensive latitude for the exercise of initiative and independent judgement. There are no direct reports to this position.

Required:

• Must be a Medical Doctor, Board-certified (or Board-eligible and working toward certification) in Psychiatry with current Texas license.
• Five (5) years of experience providing services to disenfranchised populations.
• Bilingual/Spanish speaking preferred.
